Texas Pride BBQ .... any good?

East of San Antonio about 10 miles in Adkins, Texas.

Anybody tried it?

It was on the Food Network on the Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins show, or whatever that is called.

It's been awhile since I was out there, but I thought it was pretty good. I have eaten at the Lockhart and Luling establishments, and to be honest I think the undying love and snobbery I read on here about bbq borders on insane. Texas Pride does just fine.

And yes, I do know the difference between "good" cue and Bill Miller's (and hell, when I want fast food bbq Bill Miller's does alright).

They have some great concerts there from time to time, too, which is really the only reason I ever head out there.

I've found that Bill Miller gets progressively worse the farther from Austin you go. We used to pick up brisket sandwiches on the way out to Disc-Falk at the Ben White/I-35 location, and it was always good stuff (albeit not the best ever or anything). Having said that, it's been a while and quality may have gone downhill from then.

I've also been there several years ago although I drive by there on my way into SA every so often. Once we went to the Friday night fish fry (with live music) and that was fun. The fish was nothing special. The time we went for BBQ I thought it was just OK.

Not a fan of Bill Miller although they are everywhere in SA. There is also one just down the road from Texas Pride on 1604.
