Texas-OU Game Thread

It's easy to pile on. Too much money for this coach. Too much being a political progressive and not enough being a football coach. The arrogance is unearned. He walked in with it and I wonder if he has any idea that his arrogance is because he compares himself to regular people and not who he should be comparing himself to; the coaches of the teams that are beating him. He is like noveau riche, ostentatious and lacking in good taste.

Yeah the holding call was huge. Instead of first and goal from the 9, the 19. Downhill from there.

zero plays by the defensive in overtime. Only time OU didn’t score a td was when they need to only score a fig to win. Horrible d play.

Both teams were sloppy and we were always playing keep-up from the first score onward. It just wasn't our day, like many other editions of this rivalry.

We didn’t deserve to win. It was only Sam’s magic that forced OT. To state the obvious, Herman cannot get it done.

Time to move on.

That was an overthrow set up by a dumb holding call.
Sam is human, after all.

Sam deserves a better coach than TH

Imagine how he'd look if he had Leach or Ripley for 4 years.

How many deep balls do you have to miss on until you realize that you cannot run that play?

Also pretty dumb to commit to trying to grab the whole 19 at once, since if it fails, you're sunk for 3rd and 4th downs also.

We didn't deserve to win that game - Sam put us on his back but it just wasn't enough. Penalties (dumb ones especially) throughout the game were inexcusable - getting in our own way most of the time, and it wound up costing us.

I don't know why it took us 4 quarters to play with intensity... :brickwall:

Bad Coaching

^Dukesteer, I reluctantly agree. This team was not properly prepared for the game - that's game planning (on the coaching staff). They do not execute fundamentals very well - like blocking and tackling (also on the coaching staff). IMO the difference in the talent level of Texas and Zero U is very small - but the zeroes have a huge advantage in coaching. I was for the hire of Tom Herman, and I was for giving him enough time to get his recruits experience. But...ENOUGH! Texas is getting outprepared and outcoached, and that's simply unacceptable. I assume the wealthy alumni can scare up enough money to buy out Tom's contract. And I further assume they have enough influence to prevail on CDC to wield the axe.
Urban Meyer, where are you?

^^^And this was the reason Sam’s heroics weren’t quite enough to win.
Our D truly sucked.

Dumb penalties all over the field no doubt. We had walk-ons playing D. Sam was inaccurate and missed almost every throw downhill. But the effort was there. Those guys left it out there on the field and I am proud of that effort.

It is weird though that the players with constant bone head plays or penalties are never met with TH on the sideline chewing their ***...but there always seems to be a critical player not playing for some mystery discipline thing. Or maybe Jake was hurt? Sure would be nice to see him and Jordan W in the same game for once.

OU played absolutely awful and undisciplined and yet compared to this godawful Texas team they look like a well oiled machine.

I said before the year started it would be better if they cancelled our season. How I wished that would have happened. Cant win with6 or 7 players caring about football and the rest not.
