Texas @ Ole Miss 01/26/2025

I looked at there roster of coaches, and I noticed that Empress Davenport, a player for UT from 2012-2016, is now one of their assistant coaches. She was previously with UTSA. This is her first year there.
 
Ole Miss has 5 losses but three were to ranked teams including Alabama, UConn and USC. They lost to UConn by 13 but they only lost by 2 to USC at USC. 👀 They were top 25 until they lost to A&M by 2. They have won their last three games but all three of those were unranked teams. They don’t have anyone over 6’2” except a 6’4” who gets very limited play, and their best player averages 12 points per game with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. They don’t shoot the three very well and average 79 ppg. (27th in the nation). They are 9th in the nation in scoring margin (we are 2nd). ESPN gives us an 85% chance of winning.
 
I’m most curious if there’s any lingering issues with Taylor’s shoulder injury in the TN game. I know she came back into the game, so I hope that means she’s good to go.
 
85% is way too high playing on the road. Both teams are top 10 in scoring margin and it being home for them pretty much evens things out.
 
Oh my, Texas' energy is so low. I realize they're playing their third game in six days, but they can't let this one get away. Ole Miss is shooting in excess of 60% across all shooting categories. Texas is getting further and further behind with missed free throws, fouling, shooting over the backboard, outrebounded, etc. Totally outplayed in that weak period. Someone needs to wake up the team.
 
At this point of the season with Holle all but disappearing offensively , wouldnt it be better to go with Lee for longer periods ?
 
What a time for Booker to go cold again. It isn't just "a bump in the road"...it could cost Texas the game as no one else besides Taylor stepped up during that first half. Give those girls some Red Bull and kick butt the second half.
 
Justice gives us if nothing more,(would give us more) another body and 5 more fouls....not sure what's going on there. Maybe its the knee but we sure could use her today.

Gonna hafta get it going and not let this one slip away.
 
31 fouls called in 30 minutes. I hate it when refs do this. It ruins the game. At least it is both ways but still ridiculous
 
I'm thinking Carlton is unavailable. Just not sure if it's injury or doghouse. But otherwise we would've seen her.

On the plus side Jak has been a nice bright spot today!
 
The transition three is something I wish we would see more. Rori has had some open shots today but she's just not going to take them. Granted she is better on the drive but still.
 
Ole Miss last played a week ago. They’re well rested. We’re a step slow but hanging in there. Let’s finish strong and put another victory in the win column!!
