Texas @ Okie State

If Barnes doesn't have a lockdown defender for the 2nd-half you can scratch this game. Shouldn't McClellan be starting...at least 2nd half?

I haven't watched all that many games, but I am puzzeld by Lewis starting ahead of McClellan. Is McClellan a poorer defender than Lewis?

Lewis has been a terrible shooter this season and from the few games I have watched his shot selection is poor. He is also a hgh turnover risk.

BTW, Brown is having one of his worst games of the year. 5 points, 3 TOs and not a rebound.

Lewis 1 for 5, 1 board, no assists and 3 turnovers in 16 minutes. That is pretty lousy.

The poor first half was too difficult to overcome. We got the same treatment as KSU did in Austin with the foul calls. We actually looked pretty good on offense, especially in the 2nd half.

Very tough loss. 40 free throws for osu. 51 first half points for osu. way too many turnovers for the good guys. Hopefully barnes will make this a teachable moment for the team.

We still have a shot, especially if we can beat Baylor at home. It could happen.

If you had told me that Texas would shoot as well as it did in this game, both FG% and FT%, I would have thought a win.

The killing facts:

Poor start with early turnovers.

Poor start with lousy defense which set the tone for most of the game.

Too many turnovers (15) to too few assists (9), with 11 steals given up - that is pitiful - and too many blocks given up - 8. Those stats against a mediocre team like OSU indicate a lack of focus or too many freshman (Kabongo had 5 turnovers and Lewis 3) or both. The starting guards had 4 assists and 12 turnovers - the ratio should be 2:1 or better, not 1:3.

Unfortunately, for the second consecutive game, Wangmene literally disappears with foul trouble. As a senior, he should be doing better than that. Lewis had another negative game.

TO's were killers. Standing around at end waiting on Kabongo. In other games it was waiting on J'Covan. Need lots of offensive movement, smarter defense to not get sucked into the fake jump shots, and smarter passes. Like the thought of beating Baylor. Here's hoping.

Players who bite on too many head fakes often have not properly studied and prepared for their opponents or are overconfident. The best individual defense begins well before one's opponent decides to shoot.
