Texas Mystique?

I've wondered for years if Texas puts too much pressure on student athletes to live up to the "Texas image".

Chas Fussell's scoring numbers are down this year. Transfers
GiGi Mazionyte and Ashley Roberts aren't scoring anywhere near what they did at JC.. Defense is better and faster, but all three are shooters who seem to be struggling.

Youth and Inexperience Guards is the 1st problem.
Make adjustments in the game Offense and Defense.
Man defense is not going to work on every team. 2nd problem.

There is a third possibility for pg next year. Tx now has a couple of extra scholarships available. The staff could be looking for another pg for next year. There a couple of Juco players who were highly regarded coming out of highschool who are juco sophs this year.

Taylor will be quick and can handle the ball.And she drives to the basket. Which should help Chas. I watch the Men's Game also.And Mike made them look like a different team.

Coach Conradt was interviewed on Longhorn Extra tonight. If they post it on texassports.com you should all watch it...excerpts...
"I know a lot of things that are going on in the program that the general public does not see. Karen can't talk about that because then it comes across as an excuse. That's never going to happen with a coach who's a professional....people who just watch from afar and don't really try to be realistic about what's happening then they just react to the moment without a lot of insight."

"She did not inherit a lot of outstanding players..... I hate to use the word entitlement but I can't think of a better one. Because now it seems players they want to play because it's prestigious...... you get to wear the uniform, you get to travel, you stay in very nice hotels, and people admire you for the opportunity you have.....the focus is on those things other than what makes a great player : work ethic, loving the sport, and making the sacrifices to become good at your craft."

Entitlement seems to be coming up in all UT sports on the way down. Since no one can talk sense to any 18-21 year old, it is the coach's problem to diagnose and cure.
