Texas Longhorns blitz package

I love what I'm seeing. From Different formations, it seems like we can always get to the QB. I think the only thing that needs to be worked on is breaking down once we get to the QB. We have a LOT of missed sack opportunities. But I know that MUS CAMP saw that, and will fix that. I feel really bad for Casey Dick this week.

Well, part of it is that we've played some fairly savvy qbs that are good at getting rid of it. Almost getting there in time is almost as good as a sack, because it usually means the QB threw it before he was ready. UTEP missed a hell of a lot of throws that way.

I like the sacks too but I agree getting a hurry and a knock down is pretty much just as good. UTEP had a lot of guys open that weren't hit because of the pressure and this will provide INT opportunities in games.

Also keep in mind Munsch has not opened up the play book yet. I am so pumped to think about what we will pull out in Dallas. We WILL get to Bradford, and that will give us a chance to win.

From what we have seen up to this point I like Bradford vs the 08 Texas D. Who knows tho there is a fair amount of ball to be played in between now and October 11.

What I don't understand is the cushion we give to receivers especially given the fact that we're trying to pressure the QB schematically. You would think we would try to throw off the QB/eceiver timing jamming the receivers at the line a little more. We haven't really jammed the receivers for as long as I can remember regardless of who the DC is so I guess this must be a Mack Brown edict.

Regarding OU, don't forget that Muschamp is scouting OU's defense for our OC and RB coach. We'll find the soft spots this year, and I suspect Muschamp is likely assertive enough to make certain our Offense takes advantage of them. This is a good thing.

I don't know what games you are watching, but a quarterback stepping up in the pocket while defensive linemen run past him is not a quarterback under pressure. Our D-line is running out of position a lot more than they are getting effective pressure.

We have had one critical time sack, and one garbage time sack in two games. That's not good. We also gave up 4.7 YPC against UTEP. Not good.

In each of the first two games, the other team has come out and drive the field on us. We were bailed out by a bad snap against FAU, and managed to hold for a field goal against UTEP. We have shown the ability to adjust later in the game and our effort has always been good, but saying that we have anything close to a decent pass rush is just fantasy.

Scoring defense. Scoring defense. Scoring defense. Second half points? ZERO. Second half points? ZERO. Second half points? ZERO. Sky not falling. Sky not falling. Sky not falling. The myopia on this board is truly mind numbing.

You don't have to be Coach Muschamp to see where the inexperience is on OU's D this year.

From what we have seen of both teams, to this point, Texas won't be able to keep OU from scoring. Conversely OU won't be pitching a shutout against Texas either. This game is shaping up to be a good one. Maybe the best RRSO this decade. If Texas finds a running game before then it is sure to be one of the most exciting.

I'm ready!! Even if neither team is

You can use that crappy arguement after we beat OU 42-13 and give up 400+ yards.

Against UTEP, we need to see a lot better. We should have dominated them, and they moved the ball pretty much at will against us.

^ TRULY mind numbing. "at will"? Guess they just didn't want to get it in the end zone more than once. How nice of them.

Yes, because I clearly said we're the 85 Bears. I give up. You're right. We suck and will be destroyed by OU, Mizzou, Tech and their like. Who are allowing more points, on average, to similar opponents.

Lets not get our panties in a wad here.

First of all OU does look pretty good and we definatly showed areas that need improvement. Coming into the game UT will definately be the underdog and will have to prove that they mean business.

That being said, there is still a lot of football to be played. As I see it our run D looked a little sloppy and our secondary a little late on passes, but there are good reasons. First of all, we were missing a DT in the game. Secondly, a lot of guys are still getting used to the new scheme at game speed. Finally, Musch is still working pretty simplistic defenses.

Come RRS time, we will hopefully: have Houston back, be comfortable in our positions, and implement some new bad *** schemes to get to the QB and shut down the run. Our secondary is green but out LB play has been great and out entire front 7 should be stout by RRS time.

Also, OU looks good but is fairly veteran on D and so will not improve as much as our d will. On O they have exploited a new WR that defenses have not been keying on. We will be prepared on D for them and so I think it should be a great match. Either way it should be two top ten teams with a great rivalry looking to beat eachothers' brains out. I look forward to it.

Right now this is looking like it could be one of the highest scoring RRS's in history. Without looking it up, I'd guess the highest combined point total in a game that wasn't a blowout was the 38-28 game in 1999. I could see a 38-34 type game come this october.
