Texas @ ksu game 2

no score after 3

we finally got a hit as Etier doubled with 2 outs and was balked to 3rd but alas died there.

Etier made a good play at short in the bott of 3 for the 1st out.

Still scoreless after 3 innings.

Took four outs as for some reason Etier takes all day to throw to first after cleanly fielding a one hopper. They give hm a hit on a routine play.

Frustration mounts with each scoreless inning. We are swinging at bad pitches and striking out at a high rate.

When we get a couple of hits like we have twice it's singles that leave runners on second and first. Without the walks and errors it takes us three hits in an inning to score and we can't do it so far.

In contrast Aggy averaged 10 runs a game against these pitchers last week. Losing only in a 15-12 slugfest in the first game. Got to score against this kind of pitching staff or watch the L's pile up.

The clueless announcers need to shut up about the pitchers being used on consecutive day. Wow a relief pitcher threw 10 pitches the day before and came back to pitch today. How awful, this is made more painful by not being able to hit their terrible pitching staff.

I am really tired of the Horns being owned by KSt. 4 to 2 is looking like another loss this late in the game.

Finally K-State gives us enough help to tie the game at 4.
They give us a HBP and lose a pop up in the sun and a balk.
Still after more swings at bad pitches for strike outs, Marlow gets an infield single to tie it up.

That's all we get and to the bottom of the 8th tied at 4 all.
All our runs have scored because of K-State mistakes.

Knebel in to pitch. Augie really wants this one badly.

Knebel mows them down in order. Ok Horns here is your chance to win this game most likely with the big horse on the mound. To the 9th tied at 4.

Well we have the chance, Payton singles and steals second with one down. Lussen ph for Maitland K's and it's up to Walsh after a pitching change to deliver a clutch hit.

No dice, as Walsh hit just a little off the end of the bat it looked like and lines out to fairly deep right field.

Knebel must now pitch for extra innings tied at 4 to the bottom of the 9th.

With the help of a great play by Marlow on a grounder up the middle Knebel retires the side in order again.

Big inning here, if we could get the lead somehow, Knebel comes back in the bottom half for the save. If not, maybe Augie gets him out of the game to have tomorrow.

Once we have a chance after a Silver single and the following sac. But Silver tries to move up on pitch that got away from the catcher. Catcher picls up bare handed and makes a 360 and fires a perfect throw to third cutting down Silver. They Payton grounds out.

Still tied and Knebel back to the mound.

Knebel gets out of jam to leave the game tied. A walk, sac, and intentional walk, then for some reason we just give them a double steal. Knebel K's the batter to get out of it though.

Top of the 11th tied at 4. We seem to be spending Knebel for this game, we really need to win it.

Finally we get clutch hitting four straight sinlges plates two runs and Texas leads 6-4. It all came after two outs and nobody on. A big hit by Maitland replacement Stell kept the inning going his first hit as a Horn!

I guess Knebel comes out for his fourth inning of work, not his comfort zone for sure. He is probably done for the series now anyway. He deserves this win.

One more time Knebel mows down K-State and as goofy announcers keep saying 21st ranked Texas wins 6-4!

Big win, we had to have. The bats better come to play tomorrow, not looking like a low scoring affair.

Hallelujah!!!
