I've been worried about this game since the schedule was published. It's not just Ayoka Lee that we need to worry about. In addition to Sundell and the twins, they got a guard named Walker from Louisville in the transfer portal. She's quick and she's pretty good. Add Gabby Gregory's experience and the matchups are very concerning for me. We've had great success against them the past few seasons because Rori was able to harass them defensively. You KNOW Jeff Mitte wants this one bad!

I'm usually an optimist, but I don't think we should be favored here without Rori. In fact, I expect a loss and if we do win, it will come as a most welcome and pleasant surprise.

I had this one circled as a really tough one even before Rori went down. If you watched the Texas volleyball team play in Manhattan this year, you will understand how badly that fan base wants to beat Texas. They are particularly hostile. (I had the “joy” of sitting near quite a few Wildcat fans at the last two Big 12 tournaments in KC and they were vehemently against Texas whether we were playing their team or not.)

That's where I'm at. 50/50 in Manhattan with Rori, not counting on a win. Will be pleasantly surprised with a win.

Additionally, our last game was not exactly sparkling in what should have been a much easier contest than K State. Let's just call this a "seasoning game" playing a tough opponent in a hostile environment and see what we need to work on. Win or lose, it will be a helpful game for our tournament preparation.

Gosh. Y’all are so pessimistic. I like this matchup and I do think we have enough to beat them. And I believe we will! I trust Vic and this team! This was never a matchup that I was concerned with.

For those of you who watched the press conf, you might have heard Holle reference “It’s us against everybody” talking about everyone wanting to beat Texas. What you might have missed is she casually referenced the fans booing them when they take the court.

Tell me if any of you have ever been at a WBB home game where Texas fans boo the athletes on the opposing team. I’ll answer that for you… You haven’t because it doesn’t happen.

We’re Texas. I trust these women will respond to the challenge. We will beat KSU. Period. That’s my story and I like it so I’m sticking with it.

She got a lot of hate playing for Westlake..it’s been going on since the WHS founding in 1969. Maybe it’s better now. And Westlake wasn’t even rich then..though it was so perceived. They barely got accredited.

I had to break this down match up wise and as Bic said they have to worry about us just as much as we about them. They beat Jackson State by 42 and we beat ‘em by 45 but in 2 different ways. They only alllowed them to score 37pts and we let ‘em score 53 but we put up 97 they barely scored 70ish. That gives me a story of they struggle to score at times and depend on throwing it in to Lee. Most of the time she been the biggest big on the floor. Not tomorrow she has to deal with Faye athleticism and Tay similar height and moves. The guards are a deadlock for me I believe Amina will contain Gabby as well as walker. Sun fell has to deal with Booker and that’s going to be hard. The twins have to keep up with Shaylee and Holle. I’m not chunking this up as a lose by far. KSU is going to have to beat us to beat us.

In his column this morning, Danny Davis at AAS picked KSU stating:

"That Texas went 3-0 last season against the Wildcats is almost inconsequential since Lee was injured. They should be able to protect their home court in what could be a preview of the Big 12 championship game."

But to me, this is a Vic game. He's 9-0 vs ksu, and 6-0 v. Ayoka. If they can't beat us today on their home court and with us having a frosh at PG who converted from Wing, then they probably never will.

KSU is talented, and plays very well at home. I believe they won at Top 5 Iowa, and then last to them a few weeks later.

Whichever bigs get into foul trouble could turn the tide in favor of the opposition. Hoping Shaylee and Shay continue with their 3-point scoring. Booker has been rushing her 3-point shots lately; hopefully she finds here shooting touch beyond the arc.

Hadi Faye had a huge game against Tech and Lee like 3 years ago. From below article:

Tech was bolstered by the breakout performance of Faye, who finished with her first career double-double and a career high 20 points.

Faye was huge for Tech on both sides of the ball, also notching two pivotal blocks.

On the boards, she had five offensive rebounds and 14 overall for Tech, also a career high.

Hopefully, she can find that success again today.

I believe Lee will get her 25. Just hold their other players down. It’ll be close but Horns win by 5.

Ok so I had to get quiet and look with my Coach eyes but D Gatson only problem right now is her mindset. She not playing with no spark or fire. I like the switch of AMo and Amina it’s a different look.

The thing is Texas has a butt load of bigs and we ain’t even seen Faye yet. Our big to big awareness has to be better and we’ll do better. Proud of Mauls mins if she can star in that role it’ll grow. AMo is emerging before our eyes as a leader. A few small things to clean up in the locker room at the half but I feel like we folllowed the game plan pretty well.

Anybody know if Faye is available to play today?
She looks fine down at the end of the bench and seems engaged, so who knows. I'd like to see her in there, especially since she played Ayoka well in the past.

But we need to quit missing easy shots. We should be up in this game by at least 10.

My gosh, these games are tough on an old lady. I'm already tipsy from left over New Year's champagne. How we doin? Seriously, I'd like Shay and Shaylee to sink a billion 3's. Honestly!:)

Boy, the last two minutes of the third period were pitiful. If Texas loses, they can remember that unremarkable play. Totally blew a six point lead.

It's frustrating that we don't try much to get three point shots. Shayley is a 45% 3 point shooter. She has had some opportunities today, but keeps trying to get it inside.
