With Johnson committed and the staff liking its position with Jones, there is only room for 1 more WR and Texas believes there are better options out there (nationally). The staff may have soured on him after reports of his actions at an aggy junior day, but who knows for sure.

The word from the TAMU junior day is he rolled up with a 7-person entourage and was acting quite high and mighty. He left early when he did not get the attention he felt he deserved.

I have no idea why Mack is no longer recruiting him, but I would suspect if Wheeler was acting anywhere near that level with Mack, Mack would cut him loose.

But I don't know. The kid is a talent and is supposedly down to LSU/Auburn/TCU. Someone will put up with his shenanigans because he can play.

At some point, the TCU situation deserves its own thread.

With C.Jones about to make his decision and Texas is supposedly leading...Texas has two of the top WRs in the state, so if there is any question about Wheeler in Mack's mind, he can afford to move on.

Wheeler said he had not been in contact with the Texas coaches since the last junior day, so something may have gone there to change the coaches' minds.

The TCU situation is that after their Rose Bowl birth (and victory), they are suddenly a hot topic amongst high schoolers.

Particularly those in the DFW area.

I would not be surprised to see them become more and more of a player for legit 4/5 star talent in the near future as they move into a BCS conference. They'll be on TV more, have an inside track to BCS games, and have shown an ability to compete with the big boys while attracting 2/3 star level talent.

They are going to be a factor, moreso to TAMU than Texas, but still a factor.

Cosm tweeted that the staff feels really good about Jones so we are done with WR. Of course there will always be room for DGB....

"Isn't TCU scheduled to suck next year?" _________________________________________________ Not likely they'll be in another BCS bowl, if that's what you mean by suck. My guess would be about 10-2. Against their schedule it certainly would be unimpressive. They play BYU in Jonestown and Boise on the blue. Other than those 2 SDSt and AirForce would be their only notable games

Maybe we didn't revoke the offer and he can still come here if he wants. We just may not be actively pursuing him. Rivals still has the offer being outstanding from us.
