Texas Hire Yurcich as OC

I suspect that this has been a done deal for a while. Clearly Herman is partial to his tOSU associations, I.e. Ash, Drayton and now presumably Yurcich.

Yurcich will have plenty to work with next year. The expectations should be high.

I think this is him ..
...on the left.

Uh, i dunno. A lot of buddy hires on TH watch ... hope this is a good decision.

Don't think he's a buddy. They've never coached together, only been at Ohio St a year so not a Meyer guy either.

Kind of like the D hire, not a big name, but hopefully works out. He has been under some offensive dudes, I think Gundy is one of the best coaches in D1. Don't remember losing any recruiting battles to him but he should have some relationships from his time in Stillwater.

I've gone on record saying he is my top choice. I love that he comes from the Gundy tree. OSU has been the model of consistent balanced offense this year. I think that comes from his time in the Okie Lite system under Gundy.

Keep in mind, if he turns the Texas offense around, you can bet he will only be here 1 or 2 years.

I'll take that a long as it is truly "turned around". I would think we get at least 2 years.
Hopefully someone is groomed to step in and keep it rolling.

I don't know anything about this guy but I will say this; THE Ohio State University is a pressure-cooker so at least he knows what it's like to work under maximum stress and expectation.

Until he is signed, sealed , and delivered; there is always a chance that tOSU gives him what he wants to stay there. Unless Texas guarantees 3 years or so and big $$$$....Why leave a bird's nest on the ground ?

Well, at Texas he will be OC, not just passing coordinator.
He will call plays. He does not now.
It is a step up.
He will live in Austin.

And, if he wins big.....it will end up being an even bigger step up.
With all the hub hub for years now over Texas not being back...when and if some people help us get there, the pay off for those folks will be huge.

Sangre Naranjado told us to ignore the drivel. These are just pot shots taken at everything that is Texas Football. Why the hell would we pay a new OC a 3 year guaranteed contract. Only an Aggie would think that’s a good idea!

With the RBs we will have next year glad to see this hire. OSU has shown the ability to put out top tier RBs. With Ingram, Witt, RJ, and BR we are stacked at RB. My what a difference a year makes.

Are these comments a concern at all??
"Multiple sources have told Bucknuts that OSU head coach Ryan Day informed Yurcich it would be in his best interest to look around for another job. One source said succinctly: "Yurcich is difficult to work with and rubbed some people the wrong way.""

Mike Yurcich leaving OSU to be Texas' offensive coordinator
The way the Myth left and Day ascended to the job I would say no. It would only be natural that Day would want "his" people next season.

The guys Strong/Mack brought in their last years here were given 3 year guaranteed deals. Were the guys handing out those deals Aggies ?
