Things could move a little bit come tomorrow. But at the moment Texas is top five on Rivals, ESPN and Scouts recruiting class rankings. LSU, tOSU, UT and USC seem to be the usual suspects with each differing on the 5th. Overall a great year for Texas. Would be nice to pick up one of the big name hold outs tomorrow.

Rivals

1.Ohio St
2.LSU
3.Texas
4.Alabama
5.USC

ESPN

1. LSU
2. USC
3. Texas
4. Ohio St
5. Florida

Scout

1. Ohio St
2. LSU
3. North Carolina
4. Texas
5. USC

That is a very nice neighborhood to be in. Just one uncommitted top player to pick the Horns might move the Horns to #2 or possibly #1. Wed. will be fun

08 class may be a little underrated by 3 top 5 classes in last 4 years (06, 07, 09) is going to lead to alot of future success at the 40!

Funny how in 08 when UT slipped just a bit OU had their best recruiting class in recent years. Texas pulling more talent in 3 out of last 4 years makes you hope for the best on the field in the next couple of seasons at least.

One note about OU recruiting....they went out and grabbed 4 LBs this year after grabbing 4 last year. That is 8 LBs this last 2 years out of 44 commits...18% of their class. Seems a little strange. Must be a ton of attrition at that position combined with injuries.

Wow, if anyone ever questioned if recruiting is important, these teams make up the majority of teams that have played for or won a MNC in the last 5 years:

I heard Bobby Burton say that tOSU lost two guys last night, and that will drop them in the rankings unless they get some of the guys they have left.

Rivals has moved USC down to 6th and LSU to #1.

1. LSU
2. Ohio State
3. Texas
4. Alabama
5. Florida State
6. Southern Cal
7. Michigan
8. North Carolina
9. Miami
10. South Carolina

Some of the late breakers have pushed Texas down a couple of notches per Rivals.

1 LSU
2 USC
3 Ohio State
3 Alabama
5 Texas

I am sure this question has been answered somewhere, but why is Texas the only team in the Big 12 with no JC transfers? Is there a policy or rule in place against such transfers?

I don't get LSU. I like Baton Rouge o.k., but the climate is as bad or worse than Houston for 91/2 mos out of the year, and The Mad Hatter is batshit crazy. With Saban running the show they could expect to play for the mnc every few seasons, but what is the attraction now? I don't have any ill will toward LSU; I just don't get the attraction. Is it the purple and gold bayou bengal thing? I don't get it.

To my knowledge, NO, Texas does not take JC transfers. The notable exception, at least in recent times, was Ahmard Hall, but he had extenuating circumstances, like a stint and tours of duty with the Marines.

Other than him, the only JC players may have been someone who had originally signed with Texas, maybe got into academic trouble, went off to JC for maybe the spring semester and then comes back. Selvin Young comes to mind.

1leg....LA is a talent rich state. I went to a football game once several years ago. I had one of the funnest times I have ever had. They love their football and their booze there for sure. Plus, it's the SEC...come on.
