Texas-Gonzaga

I haven't heard anything from the Texas end.

If that's the same "gozags" poster from another board not associated with either Scout or Rivals, he's a really good poster.

Texas and Gonzaga played in Phoenix just a few years ago in the regular season, so it's not like they haven't matched up before. With Barnes scheduling programs like Michigan State, UNC, and UConn to multi year deals, plus the elite tournaments they're always willing to compete in, the Pac 10 Hardwood series, plus usually one other game at a neutral site like this year's matchup with Villanova in New York, it doesn't leave much room for another home and home series.

As much as I like Gonzaga and Mark Few --- or how prestigious a program he's established, which he has --- if I had to choose between the Zags and any of MSU/UConn/UNC, it's a no brainer which direction I'd go.

I had not heard of these scrimmages against other top flight institutions until this season. Is this a new development? Does the NCAA sanction/control them in any way?

I know we have played exhibition games against lower level competition before, but this is different.

Does the NCAA control them? You bet they do.

Men's exhibitions now are limited to college teams, D-II teams or lower.

The scrimmages between D-I teams are allowed in place of the exhibitions, but no tickets can be sold, nor scores announced. Only team personnel are allowed to be present.

They announced the 2008-09 Big 12-Pac 10 Hardwood Challenge schedule in June, so I kind of doubt it.

P/C, I don't think KU fans will be satisfied with anything less than UCLA. What the B12 actually will decide... I'm guessing that won't be determined until next summer.

How many scrimmages can one team play? I assume that they count towards the number of practice hours per week.

I hate this. I can't even blame this loss on the refs.

i think washington would be an interesting game for the 09-10 season considering all goes well and avery bradley and abdul gaddy qualify, i think it would be interesting to see these two go head to head

It's got to be Arizona. Nationally it's waaaay more of a sexier matchup. UCLA should get Kansas for the same reason.

If it's not Arizona, then USC is the only other school that makes sense. Washington = zzzzzzzzz...

Overall, the Zag fans were just pleased their team looked ready to compete vs top 10 type opponent. They seemed very respectful of Texas. I'd hope all interested parties realize you don't really keep score. They obviously are a quality team but, its practice man, practice
