Empress, Imani, Chassidy, Nneka and Celina have been the starters for the past several games.
Projected starters:
[pre]
Texas OSU
Nneka (6-1 Soph. F) Young (6-2 Sr. F)
Imani (6-7 Fr. C) Suttles (6-1 Jr. C)
Chassidy (5-10 Jr. G) Donohoe (6-0 Soph. F)
Empress (5-7 Fr. G) Martin (6-0 Fr. G)
Celina (5-8 Fr. G) Bias (5-6 Jr. G) [/pre]
Last time these two teams met, the Horns had Young (19), Donohoe (15) and Martin (16) were in double figures. OSU played their core rotation of six players—Young, Donohoe, Martin and Bias each played 39 minutes. Texas played nine players who were in for at least 12 minutes with only Imani (30) and Empress (34) at 30+ mpg. OSU will face a Texas team who has started to take advantage of their height and talent inside with Nneka and Imani. With Chassidy and Empress both hitting from outside, OSU will not be able to focus primarily on Chassidy. Imani’s height will present a big problem inside for OSU. Nneka and Young will be a great battle to watch when they match up against each other. For Texas, the perimeter height of Donohoe and Martin will cause some problems for cause some matchup problems. Bias’ ability to motor from one end of the court to the other will need to be slowed down or stopped. Celina’s willingness and ability to make some shots from the perimeter is a change from the last game when she did not attempt a shot.

Despite making lower percentages in FGs, FTs and 3pters, OSU won the first game 64-52 by forcing 26 TOs and attempting nine more shots than Texas. They did out rebound Texas by one, 40-39. OSU had an 26-17 edge in pts off TOs. OSU was able to fastbreak in the first game. Their ability to do so as well as Young’s ability to score inside will go a long ways in determining the winner. Texas has improved their defense but the biggest improvement has been on offense where the players are looking more comfortable running the offense. OSU will battle a Texas team that been gradually improving their shooting percentages in all areas and involving more players in scoring. Chassidy is still the offensive primary focus but she is getting more scoring support which makes it easier for her to score. It should be a close game but Texas is capable of pulling out the win on OSU’s senior night.
