Frank Pollard from Meridian (then Baylor, then Pittsburgh Steelers) came close to doing this in 1976. He won first in the shot, discus, 100 & 200 for 40 points; & anchored the sprint relay bringing them from about dead last to 4th (I think). Meridian won the team title with 48 points, but if I remember correctly, 40 points would have beat the 2nd place team.

Back when Toya Jones was in high school in Refugio, he wond five gold medals in one state track meet his soph year (still a record), four golds and silver his junior year, and three golds and two sivers his senior years. He would have won two of the state titles by himself but Refugio took on relay team in those year. He was simply amazing to watch in high school. Too bad, we went to aggy who convinced him he could actually play football and he bulked up too much to ever be a world class track star.

There is a "me" in Team. Especiall if you are dyslexic. And the way kids talk these days, the objective form is often used in place of the subjective form. Just read Hornfans.

Rochelle is about 7 miles south of our ranch. Our son went there thru 9th grade before transferring to Brady "ten miles down the road" where she trains. Jym Dennis is a huge Rochelle athlete in his own right. We're thrilled Jym is back coaching at Rochelle.
