Texas' Final Stand-Help!

I just heard a "Bubble Watch" segment Doug Gottlieb did on ESPN.com. Gottlieb said Texas is the sole bubble team in the Big 12, and needs to beat Iowa State and, possibly, Missouri, if the Longhorns are going to make the Big Dance. He mentioned the game with the Cyclones will be a de facto road game in Kansas City as "no-one travels like Iowa State." I know that Iowa State has efficient three point shootig, and one good interior player. Can anyone please provide me a better scouting report? I've not seen Iowa State and have only seen Texas play a handful of games that were carried by ESPN. Can we beat Iowa State?

Can we beat Iowa State, yes we already have. Can we lose to them, yes we already have.

Kansas City is always a road game for us as every other team in the conference cheers for whoever Texas is playing.

We win against ISU and 100% in the tournament. Lose and it is a flip of the coin.

I still think that with the absence of marquis victories this season, 20 wins is the cutoff point. Beat ISU and I feel good about getting in; lose and it's NIT time.

Gottlieb said a win over Iowa State "and Texas has to be feeling pretty good". Obviously the bubble is affected by any conference tournament being won by a team outside the NCAA field. Thankfully most of mid-sized tournaments like the Missouri Valley have gone to a team already projected in. I guess maybe VCU going over Drexel could hurt us. But I say beat Iowa State at minimum, follow up with a win over Mizzu and seal the deal. It is high time that Rick Barnes coach them up. We need Barnes, and I mean desperately need him to out coach flipping Fred Hoiberg and get us into the Dance. I want junk defenses, some high/low from our frosh inside, and a Myck with under 4 turnovers. We get some of that, we can win it, in front of hostile fans or not. We are Texas. Longhorn Ballers need to ball! And Now!!!

All the bubbleheads want to tinker and fuss over every game, but the only games that matter now are the games that play against seed in conference tournaments.

Texas is on the bubble.

A win over ISU and it is no longer on the bubble. A loss to Missouri will not matter.

A loss to ISU, and it is still on the bubble. It might lose out to other bubble teams, but it might squeak in. I tend to doubt that it will, but there is a chance.

seton hall already lost. if texas beats isu, there is NO WAY seton hall will surpass them. nc state winning today doesnt help. root hard against oregon, tennessee, northwestern, and xavier.. along with nc state still since they beat us.

again, this game against isu is the most important game this season. IF we win, we're in. it's that simple. yes there are other bubble teams but unless teams with losing records start winning their tournaments, we'll be in. mark it down. we lose, root for everyone to lose immediately or we're definitely out.

Its a good thing we are ESPNs *****, or other way around. Sadly this is the reason i think we get in, even if we do lose to ISU.

Is the NCAA tournament on ESPN now, or still on CBS? As it is, there are a bunch of university AD's who sit on the NCAA selection committee who will decide our fate, not Disney or ESPN representatives. Normally, the case has been if a school has a string of NCAA tournament appearances, the committee will give them the benefit of the doubt when that school is on the bubble. That would be Texas this year. But Texas also has carried its big stick around in conference realignment and with our 300$ million dollar death knell to recruiting and Texas athletic significance, the damned Longhorn Network- I fear a lot of ADs might just stick it to Texas for those reasons. Admittedly, I am a pessimist, and live my fear of folks hating The University of Texas! But I think there is a zero shot at the Dance if we lose tonight. And honestly, if we lose to Iowa State two of three, I won't feel we got screwed. Here's hoping we see a highly energized JCovan Brown, and Rick Barnes earns his paycheck.

honestly joe, yes... that's what i'm saying. i won't be worried one bit if we beat iowa state then lose our next game. call me optimistic. we have the best SOS of schedule out of all of them except northwestern. tennessee's rpi is so awful they'll probably have to win the sec tourny. remember this is all moot if we lose tonight.

Kansas and Missouri have clearly shot their wad and are ripe for the picking by the Horns. If Jaylen U.S. Bond can pick up the slack for Wangmene after the horns dispatch Iowa State, this molten Texas team could go deep into the magma core of the dance.

Can't win if you can't convert the easy shots. I think the horns have missed about 5-6 point blank shots. Playing decent defense, but not sure that will last as the frustration grows on the offensive end.

i've counted about 6 shots within 3 feet we've missed already. isu back to back 3s and it's a 9 point lead.

It seems like Barnes never did anything to change up the offense to try to get something going in the 1st half. Just let them continue to blow opportunities after all the turnovers.

good night UT basketball. way to come out in the 2nd half with your season on the line.... pitiful. but i'm sure we'll make a late run like always just to come up short.

Never mind the awful defense...your 2nd best offensive player is still on the bench? Are you kidding me???

Hooe'em!!!
