Texas Evening MBA

I went elsewhere for an MBA, but am familiar with it.

My MBA 2 cents:

1) For an evening MBA, do it only if it faciliates a promotion or advance at your firm

2) Much more attractive option if your existing employer helps with costs

3) Not everyone needs an MBA. An MBA is best for getting something within 2-3 years after you receive the diploma. The value of a diploma eventually expires, and your performance and track record again take over. Many successful people have done well in life without one- so, carefully consider the option of NOT getting one and avoiding the debt.

4) Yes, it is nice that the MBA on your wall is the exact same MBA the full time students get.

5) Full time MBAs offer you an experience you will never get at night- Full time MBA students tend to make life long friends and networks. It's much more difficult to do this part time, yet possible.

6) Only do this at McCombs if you feel their specific career office, corporate relationships and alumni are in a field you intend to pursue. Don't be afraid to go elsewhere if you should- for your specific career.

Strongly listen to mcbrett's advice. It's great stuff. As someone who was once enrolled in an evening MBA program, not UT's, I would strongly consider and listen to mcbrett's advice. Getting an MBA is never a bad thing...but it may not be the best option depending on your current career situation.
