I can live with this. Texas is playing lights out, with obvious exception being the UN game. We were due for a stumble. Its very difficult for any team to go unbeaten through conference play. Barnes needs to get the team back in focus and make sure our D is still an impenetrable wall.

I think Kansas is ranked too high since they haven't really beaten anybody this season, but I guess that same can be said for Duke(biggest win is a come from behind to beat the Heels at home)..Oh well, this is fine with me. Hope we can bring our A game the next 4 games.

if we win ouit during regular season and win at least our first game in the tourney, we're a number one seed. these are rankings we can live with for now.

According to Hannibal and the A-Team.... even when things seem random, there is always a plan.
When I went to the Okie-State game last week I felt I was seeing a little bit of a slip in focusness. The ole F-word. Chancey passes, taking chances with low-percentage ball handling on break-aways, maybe not really dialed in on some shots. Just not really locked in to total domination with no letup.

I felt Gary Johnson was the most steady, relentless players, and Matt Hill off the bench. Balby of course. But I felt the team as a whole and many of the players were not totally into Ninja Killer Ice-in-the-Veins mentality.

Now they will be. And in a mode to grind everyone from now on... into a freaking pulp.

That game in Lincoln sets Barnes up for the serious teaching and focusness
. That game looked to me like maybe the toughest NCAA bracket game the Horns could face several weeks from now. I can't imagine a team off a regional bracket making a better effort than did Nebraska, in disrupting the Horns' game. And in the end, it was tied with a chance to win or go to OT. And that was against a fierce inside game and stifling zone defense.

As was pointed out in sports news over the weekend, CONFERENCE ROAD GAMES ARE TOUGH. One is not expected to win all their conference road games, and right about this time of year in particular. Other conference teams are fighting for survival and bubble bids, and the better teams are having to hold on and not spend everything in their tanks before the conference tournament and the Main Show.

Here are my keys to improving and moving toward more fierce play:
1. J-Brown must get his total game mentality in place. He worries me sometimes that he cannot let go of previous plays or previous games. I am never quite sure what's going on in his mind. I confess he worries me more than any player, and I have yet to figure that guy out. I don't feel that way about any of the other players.
2. Wangmene has to become more disciplined in handling his body when it comes to cheap fouls. He's reliable in FT's so can be an asset. Early in a game I would play Matt Hill more, and play Wangmene later in the game when up double-digits.
3. Barnes needs to re-establish a game for Thompson on the low post. I'd work on that by getting the ball into him and then use ball screen movement outside for kick-outs and do that a lot early on to upset collapsing defenses. Then go from there. I don't want to see the last 8 games with Thompson getting beat to death with 3 defenders clanging on him when he tries to score.
4. The team should spend some time in run-away games practicing zone defense.
5. Work on free throws, as usual.

2nd half of the last several games Texas has not played well, they need to put together a good entire game. I think it is very important for Texas to win the Big 12 regular season championship without sharing it with KU. That to me is more important than what seed they are. I can take Texas as a # 2 seed. I give Nebraska alot of credit in their game but Texas can play better also.

How can OSU get beat again, and stay the same spot in the AP??? And we drop from 2 to 5 for a close loss on the road?

Duke 1 is cool with me. Kansas still being so high is also stupid. They got blown out.... OSU and Kansas should have dropped more than we did.

When in the last 5 years has a team lost and NOT dropped in the polls? I honestly dont think that has happened. Any examples prior to this week???

Purdue is a very good team Ohio State lost to and they are undefeated at home this year. The other team Ohio State lost to is Wisconsin and the only game they lost at home this year is to Notre Dame.

Two losses in a week, and the total drop is 1 spot? Since when does a team lose two games in 10 days and only dropped a combined 1 spot. And Kansas getting blown out and only dropping one spot is dumb. Texas was 2,3 and lost by 3 on the road after dominating people for 11 straight games, and Texas drops more than anyone else.

Doesnt make sense to me.

I agree. I would put Pitt over Ohio St. and Kansas. San Diego St. ranked ahead of Texas in the coaches poll is just stupid.

Purdue is a really good team and may be the best tournament team in the Big 10. They are moving up in the rankings. Should be ahead of BYU IMO.

Losing to Wisconsin and Purdue both is a lot more forgiveable than losing to Nebraska - especially since Ohio State had 0 losses before then, so all this does is put them back in the same boat as everyone else.

OSU lost twice by double digits and barely moved.... I dont think Ive ever seen that. When was the last time that happened?

Nebraska has a winning record and it was a road game. If we were beaten by 20, like Kansas was...... then sure. But Kansas barely moved as well.....

count me reasonably satisfied with #5, we've got plenty of time to run the table and have a few teams lose. Pitt, Duke, Kansas, they could all lose. I still don't understand how why ohiost is losing but if they lose also, we're a #1 seed.

this might be another year for a cinderella run alll the way to the final four.
