TEXAS Commitment Announcements

There just seems something odd/funny about people from California moving to Oklahoma. Tom Joad returning home?

From what I have seen is that what he was referring too was a special edition of his periscope broadcast.

Maybe there was a thought that Kelly might flip, but he stayed with OU, despite the assaults by OU fans on twitter. They thought he was wavering and some were brutal.

EJ Holland at 247horns had confirmed that there indeed was a big name on the board as of late last night, but that the said player committed elsewhere. That was before Kelly committed, so I am not sure if it was Kelly.

Now there is word out there (apparently confirmed by Higdon earlier) that a big 2017 commit could happen around now. Maybe that was what Malik was talking about. No idea who.

And poor Ma Joad, deceased, rolled up in a rug and tied to the top of his car....sign on the side says "Praise Gawd for Vittery.....Hook'em Sooners!"

Aggy still doesn't get it, that these high school kids and their parents are not all unifrmly dumb, for them all to buy into all the superficial sales-job they do, like saying "SEC puts more players into the NFL". When will they start figuring out that people aren't fools? Yeah, SEC sends more, but everybody knows that has no relevance to an aggy player's chance to reach NFL. Talk about how YOU develop players, and what happens to them. When it was mostly players developed by Sherman who went to NFL in recent years and it was Mack's players at Texas who didn't go to NFL, it doesn't take rocket science for these kids to see that they are being fed snake oil. Aggy just doesn't realize it.

Charlie simply tells the players the truth and what his plans are. Almost every player and parent talks about how "real" Charlie is. I know, it is not easy for somebody to be "real" if you really don't have "real" substance. Charlie has. Sumlin doesn't. If Sumlin has substance, he still manages to get people not to notice it when he tries all the flashy stuff like barber shops, swag copter, SEC SEC, and WRTS, Charlie took a direct shot at Sumlin in one of his earliest press conferences when he said "we won't be a gadget program". He meant it, and he has lived it. There will always be some players and parents that will fall for what is gaudy, but by and large, they aren't dumb to fall for it, when they can see alternative that has real substance.

Aggy will never get it. They can't think clearly. Have never been able to, and will never be able to. That's what they are, and that's what Farmerville does to whatever cerebral abilities they might have once had before going there.

History has been clear on this: The Texas A&M fanbase, on the whole, is an exceedingly ignorant flock. Their town is a **** hole, their culture is one of reactionary groupthink, and their conduct clearly betrays an instinct for secondary status to The University of Texas at Austin in most everything they say or do. And most of them are ugly.

The job done by the entire staff and team leaders like Malik, (a true freshman), since knocking Baylor out of the Sugar Bowl, has been remarkable. I think Charlie recruits the same way that he runs a presser: "here are the facts, here is what we need, here is where you can come and get a world class education and play for one of the most storied programs in the country". No panic, no hard sell sales pitch, no swag copter.

He has brought in two top 10 recruiting classes, run Nebraska out of the state, all while losing 14 games in two years. Mack could go into kids living rooms with the glamour that the program had for a decade, and could ask, rightfully, "who doesn't want to come be a part of this?". Kids at this level aren't stupid. If the are good enough to be recruited at this level, then they probably have had their butts kissed since Pop Warner days. And in walks a grown *** man, who treats the kid like a grown *** man, with class, grace dignity and character. People want to be a part of that.

The jury may still be out on Strong. But he is not going to do anything to ever embarrass the University or a proud program. He, like Mack, appears to be a man of character. If this group has as many leaders as the 2015 class, then I think we are headed in the right direction.

Again, Congratulations to Coach and all of the staff for this haul. Dab On.:hookem2:

And the rumor is that the player who was in touch late Tuesday was actually top-200 DE Rahssan Thornton, LSU commit. Apparently he had some last-minute cold feet about going to LSU. Anyway, he went ahead and committed there. Not a huge deal.

True enough. Other than what you note above, they're ok.

Don't hold back on us Driver - how do you REALLY feel about the flock down in Collie Station!?:smile1:

Sam Ehlinger says next year’s class could be even better. Love this kid’s attitude.

“My job along with the coaches is to bring in an even better class, and we’re gonna do that,” Ehlinger said. “After next season people’s eyes are gonna be open about who the real Texas is and that we’re coming back on top.”
