Texas-Baylor Halftime -- Priceless

Last night's halftime performance by Longhorn Band was one of the most entertaining I can remember. How can you go wrong with a sing-a=long to Journey and Neil Diamond. Everyone around us loved it. Then there's the irony of the Baptist Baylor Band playing Lady Gaga. Yes, Baylor -- home of the gay-hating Ken Starr (University president). Playing Lady Gaga -- an outspoken opponent of DADT. Ken Starr is probably too stupid to understand the irony. His own band gave him the finger. Love it.

You should email the band director (Rob Carnochan) and let him know. Every time someone hates a show he probably gets copious emails, so some positive feedback might be nice.

Oh, the good old days like when I was on campus from '86 to '88. The band was better than the football. Brings a tear to my eye.

Anybody or anything that gives Lady gaga one bit of publicity is all ****** up. Talk about a worthless waste of oxygen and skin.

Oh yeah, we were all singing in my section, and the video is already on my facebook

I never thought I'd see the Baylor band play Lady Gaga on the field, and I was also surprised by the LHB performance, but it was very entertaining. I think everyone enjoyed it.

I will say when they first mentioned karaoke and through the first song that nobody sang to, I was thinking "this sucks". Then people got into it.

I think that should become a thing, because people did get pretty into Sweet Caroline and Journey. That was the best part of the game, unfortunately, haha...

i got to say, my 20 year old self of 22 years ago would be making fun of all the old geezers singing along to song that was over 40 years old.

Karaokeing to the oldies is probably a pretty good answer to the question: why is the student section deserted for this game?

Nothing wrong with old people. Who doesn't love Betty White (other than maybe Sangre) or the crazed preachers on TV? It's geezers -- folks that are compelled to go from thread to thread noting their hatred of what other people find entertaining -- that make the world a worse place to live.

What Lady Gaga song did they play?

"Poker Face"
===============================
I beg to differ, it was "Bad Romance"

I'm 26. I think Lady Gaga is crap. You don't have to be old to recognize crap when you see it.

People who think like this are scary: "Anybody or anything that gives Lady gaga one bit of publicity is all ****** up. Talk about a worthless waste of oxygen and skin."
I'm in my 40's and I like Lady Gaga and her music (going to see her in concer this Spring). So even the old farts enjoyed it (smile).

The difference between Sweet Caroline and Poker Face is that I doubt anyone will be singing Poker Face 40 years from now at a football game. On the other hand I think it is a catchy song and see nothing wrong with it. If you get enjoyment out of someone's music who cares what anyone else thinks?

They were belting out Sweet Caroline pretty well. I don't think it affected halftime attendance one way or the other. But I think the show went over well- you could really hear the singing.

Don't Stop Believin' and Sweet Caroline were good choices but Jump is not a singalong song in my opinion. Maybe I just don't go to enough karaoke bars though.
