Football: Consistently at the top, recruiting is doing very well, but needs to win conference championships if we can't win the NC. Mack Brown is the man for now.
Men's Basketball: Has been really good for the most part. Competes for Big 12 championships, needs to learn to beat Kansas in the Big 12 tournament, people leaving the program affects the overall outcome and potential of the team. Recruiting is great (even though they leave) Overall Rick Barnes has bee doing a great job. Please stop losing to the KStates of the world.
Baseball: Took a little slump from Omaha, but still won several Big 12 champs and Tourney Champs (this is what football should be doing if they can't get to the NC, not just come out empty handed). Recruiting has been good. Augie is in great shape.
Women's Basketball: Hired an excellent coach, will need a few years to adjust and claw its way at the top of the Big 12. I see Coach G being like coach Elliot with VB. Took him a while to get the program where it is. Now VB has consistent top 5 classes every year. Coach G is doing well and will need more time to see what she can do at TEXAS
Volleyball: Wow! Started very slow with Elliot, but is now a power. Recruiting has been excellent. We need to get over the hump of making it to the final 4 and winning the whole thing.
Men's Swim: Eddie Reese...need we say more? I hate finishing 2nd, but the program is doing very well. Hopefully we can finally finish 1st.
Women's Swim: Wow! What a difference and what a turn around. Kim Brakin is the real deal. Top class and then the #2 ranked class. This program has been pushed to the top and I see it winning national titles soon.
Men's Tennis: Coach Center has been doing a great job with the program taking it to the final four twice and a runner up season. I would like to win more Big 12 titles away from Baylor, but overall program is doing great and is in great hands.
Men's Track: Thornton had the track program at a very high level for the past few seasons, but recruiting has taken a hit lately. Our top senior are graduating and I don't see anyone stepping up to replace them. We finished 20th this year, not the norm by TEXAS. We need to step it up a notch.
Men's Golf: Fields needs to do better...there is no reason that TEXAS shouldn't be at the top every year
Women's Golf: New coach needs to step up, too. TEXAS should never finish lower than 6th in the conference. We have the money, the facilities, etc to compete in the Big 12 and against the nation. This coach is very iffy and in danger.
Women's Tennis: Awful...what happened to the Queen of the Big 12? How did we get so low? Recruiting has been horrible. This coach needs to step it up and start producing.
Women's Track: Bev has been doing really well considering only a few athletics have made it to the NCAA and still has landed in the top 5 or so. Recruiting has taken a hit also and Henry at A&M is a big part of that. We need to pick it up in recruiting because once Destinee and Alexandria leave, we are going to be in so much pain!
Rowing: If we are going to have this sport, we need to be competitive with Stanford, Brown, Tennessee, etc, not just beating bad teams in the Big 12. We need to step it up overall or just get rid of the program.
Soccer: Petrucelli has made some big strides as far as making the sweet 16 consistently. We need to win more Big 12 titles...ONE is not enough especially being in the state of Texas. There's so much talent and he needs to keep that talent here and not make it go to his old school (Notre Dame). We have been beating the aggies consistently so that is a plus. A little improvement is needed, but overall they are doing well.
Softball: Always mediocre or bad. Connie should go soon. Change is needed. I don't see a CAT caliber player coming to TEXAS any time soon if she stays.
Men's and Women's X Country: Terrible, we need a change if we care about this.
I would be really happy if we replaced the following coaches:
Josh Fields with OSU's coach
Martha Richards with Duke's coach
Connie Clark with Arizona's coach
Colorado's coach for X-country
Women's tennis coach with Stanford's coach
and it pains me to say this, but yes.....I think Pat Henry is better than Bev and Bubba combined.
