Both Texas and OU are coming off disappointing losses Sunday. Texas (17-8; 8-4) will travel to OU (15-11; 6-7) Wednesday to try to put a bit of distance between themselves and OU in the Big 12 rankings. Horns will try to sweep the season series from OU for the first time since 2005. Texas won the first game in overtime 79-74. OU will be trying to stop two streaks: a two game home losing streak (with an away win in between) and a two game losing streak. Texas wants to rebound from a second loss to Baylor similarly to the way they responded to the first Baylor loss—a three game winning streak before playing Baylor a second time. Both teams have five league games left to solidify any NCAA invitations and seedings.

Of main concern to OU is the health of Aaryn Ellenberg, who was injured in the OSU game last Sunday and did not return to the game after leaving with just over 5 & ½ minutes to go. If she is unable to play, it does force some changes in how the other OU players will play on offense.

Horns have two players averaging double digit scoring in league play and three others average better than 7 ppg. Nneka leads the group with 11.5 ppg. Imani is at 10.6 ppg while Chassidy (8.8 ppg), Brady (8.4 ppg) and Empress (7.2 ppg) complete the quintet. Those five average between 8.9 FG attempts (Imani) to 7 (Empress). Kelsey is sixth at 4.6 FG attempts per game. Kelsey has the best FG% at 56.7% (34-60) with Nekia ( 26-46; 56.5%) and Imani (57-107; 53.3%) joining her in making over 50% from the field. Brady (16-45; 35.6%) and Chassidy (11-35; 31.4%) are the only players to have hit at least 10 3s in league play. Nekia (7-14; 50.0%) has the best percentage among players that have attempted at least 10 treys. Eight players have made at least 5 treys in league games with Kelsey going 1-2 from BTA. Everyone except for Brianna and Lillie has attempted at least one three. Horns are fifth in the league in 3pt FG% at 33.9%. Nneka is hitting 68.7% of her FTs. She leads the team in makes and attempts at 46-67. Brady’s 88.5% (23-26) leads both the team and a group of four that are making at least 80% of their FTs.

Nneka continues to average a double double in league play with her 10.0 rpg to go with her 11.5 ppg. Imani is second with 5.8 rpg. Kelsey adds 4.7 and Empress 4.1 as the Horns are second in the league in rebounding and first in rebounding margin (+9.0). Celina is fifth in the league with an average of 4.2 apg (55 total). Empress (32), Brady (31) and Krystle (23) all average at least 1.7 apg. Imani’s 26 blocks are twice as many as Kelsey’s 13 which ranks second on the team. Imani’s 2.17 bpg are third in the league. Celina (15), Brady (14) and Nneka (10) lead the squad in steals.

Brady and Celina have started all 13 league games. Nneka has 12 starts while Chassidy has seven starts. Kelsey has joined them in the starting lineup the last four games. A total of 9 players have at least one league start. All 14 players have gotten into at least 2 games with the core rotation usually being 11. Brady leads the team in minutes per game with an average of 30.5 mpg. 8 others average between 27 and 12 mpg. Two more are averaging over 9 mpg.

OU has four players averaging in double figures in scoring. The quartet is led by Aaryn Ellenberg (# 3, 5-7 Sr. G) whose average of 17.8 ppg is second in the league. Morgan Hook (# 10, 5-10 Sr. G) averages 11.0 ppg. Sharane Campbell (# 24, 5-10 Jr. G) adds 10.9 ppg while Nicole Griffin (# 4, 6-6 Sr. C) averages 10.3 ppg. Ellenberg has made and taken 79-189 FGs, approximately 25% of OU’s total in each category. T’ona Edwards (# 2, 5-5 Fr. G; 9-15, 60.0%) and Griffin (46-88, 52.3%) are the only Sooners making at least 50% of their shots. Five other Sooners are hitting at least 40% of their FGs, including Ellenberg at 42.5%. Hook leads OU in making 3s, hitting 38.5% from BTA (20-52). Nicole Kornet (# 1, 6-1 Soph. G; 11-32. 34.4%) and Ellenberg (32-89, 36.0%) are the other 3pt threats for the Sooners. Ellenberg is making and taking about 40% of OU’s 3pt shots. Griffin (42-58, 72.4%), Campbell (48-55, 87.3%), Ellenberg (41-51, 80.4%) and Hook (29-40, 72.5%) are the top four Sooners at getting to the FT line. Kaylon Williams’ (# 42, 6-3 RS Soph. F) 23 FT attempts are fifth on the team.Campbell (6.2 rpg) and Griffin (5.5 rpg) lead OU in rebounding. Hook has 51 assists while Ellenberg has 24 assists and Gioya Carter (# 25, 5-9 Fr. G) has added 21. Griffin with 27 blocks is the only Sooner that has reached double digits in that category. OU has five players with double digit steals, led by Ellenberg (21) and Campbell (20).

Nine Sooners have played in all 13 league games. Three others have in between 2 and 8 games. Four have started every league game: Ellenberg, Hook, Campbell, and Griffin. Carter has started 7 games. Derica Wyatt (# 11, 5-10 Fr. G) joins Williams, Kornet and Edwards in coming off the bench. Kornet has split the starts in league play with Carter, starting the six games that Carter did not. Ellenberg (33.4 mpg), Hook (33.2 mpg), Campbell (29.1 mpg), Griffin (25.5 mpg) and Carter (23.1 mpg) have been the recent starters and are the only ones that average at least 20 mpg. The reserves average between 10 and 16 mpg.

Projected starting lineups:
Texas

#2, Celina Rodrigo. 5-8 Soph. G
#3, Nneka Enemkpali, 6-1 Jr. F
#24, Chassidy Fussell, 5-10 Sr. G
#32, Brady Sanders, 5-11 RS Soph. G
#40, Kelsey Lang, 6-5 Fr. C

Oklahoma

#3, Aaryn Ellenberg, 5-7 Sr. G
#4, Nicole Griffin, 6-6 Sr. C
#10, Morgan Hook, 5-10 Sr. G
#24, Sharane Campbell, 5-10 Jr. G
#25, Gioya Carter, 5-9 Fr. G

Horns won the first game, a 79-75 OT thriller after Gigi hit a 3 to send it into OT. Ellenberg went off for 37 pts but the only other Sooner to reach double figures was Campbell with 12 pts. Horns overcame that individual scoring by having four players reach double digits in scoring.

Horns will seek to keep Ellenberg from having another huge game. Meanwhile, they will look at dominating inside in both rebounding and scoring. Staying out of foul trouble for our posts will be key in keeping pressure on OU inside. OU is thin inside with only 6-3 Williams getting significant playing time inside with 6-6 Griffin. OU normally starts four guards along side Griffin. Another thing the Horns will seek to do is reduce turnovers, something they had done before Sunday’s game. Both teams had 12 steals the last time they played.

Two main matchups will in the post where Nneka’s quickness will allow her to match up with guard Campbell while Kelsey and Imani will take on Nicole. On the perimeter, expect Celina to start off on Aaryn with plenty of help from Krystle and Empress. OU did a good job taking Nneka out of the offense but Imani and Kelsey went 10/18 from the field. Horns will have a bit more depth both in the post and on the perimeter than OU. One area where Texas does have an advantage is in bench scoring. Horns are getting double the scoring from their bench that OU does from theirs.

The game will be this Wednesday at 6:30 PM, not 7 as the games usually are. The game will be televised on FOX Sports Network. That is FSSW in Austin (TWC HD 1639). The radio broadcast will on KVET-AM 1300.

Horns out shooting the Sooners early by a pretty big margin, and have 12 rbs to just 3 for OU. But it's all tied up at 17; 8 TOs way too many this early in the game. We need to settle down. Still expecting a nice road win for the Horns.

think we are going for 20 TOs in the half.

so many of them are self inflicted. I am glad we are up.

looks like we stopped the TOs but now having trouble hitting shots. We are getting FTs but not capitalizing on them as Horns are only 7-13 from the FT line.

We look out of sync on offense. OU is doing a good job keeping the Horns off the offensive boards.

Horns down by a point at the break. Not sure I expected that. We went from shooting over 70% with about 11 mins left in the half to just over 30% by halftime. I think we'll see this team come out focused an ready to play in the second; with ISU coming up in Ames, we can't afford to let this contest get away from us.

I'm surprised that Horns only have 3 assists, none by our PGs. Nneka, Imani and Brady have one assist each.

10-26 shots have been from BTA, not really our game. Nneka, Imani and Kelsey have 7 shot attempts. They need to get more shots. The inside out game really works to get our outside shooters open looks.

Horns playing much better, moving the ball and working to get free. Imani is doing a great job defending the basket.

It's amazing Nekia Jones was listed coming out of High School, and the No.58 Recruit. She should have been Ranked in the Top 20.
She is really a tough matchup!!!!!!1

one I don't have to worry about is getting a stress test. Just have to keep going or watching the games.

Another awful road performance.

Even with no Ellenberg for OU, we can't seem to make enough plays to win.

Inexcusable loss for the team. OU w/o Ellenberg should be a win. This team has to know that it can still play it's way out of an NCAA bid. And 3 consecutive losses will put them on that path. I understand that every coach has their own philosophy, but this team has shown time and time again that they require a large amount of hand holding down the stretch, so I would like to see more of that from KA in close games.

There was plenty of blame to go around, but that bad one minute stretch by Empress late in the game -- bad pass, missed jump shot, foul -- was just momentum-killing.

Terrible last couple of minutes. Once again it appears players are on the own to throw up some balls and hope for the best. I don't understand the inbounds play (if you can call it that) with 4 seconds left. With timeouts remaining. God bless Nneka -- she's the hardest working player on the court. Bottom line is we absolutely suck on the road.

We ended up with "only" 15 turnovers.

The bench did not come through, other than Nekia with 9 points. Lang and Briana had 0 pts; Krystle, Empress, and GiGi contributed 1 pt each. Hardly a team effort.

Most of the stats go in favor of the 'Horns. But, too many mistakes (mental and physical) at inopportune times.

Sherri's decision to call a timeout before Chassidy's second free throw attempt ended up being genius.

With so many players who can score, we are entirely too predictable. A rotating bench is not a strategy. It's exactly the opposite. On the brightside, we played it close and almost had a win. Too bad we've been saying that for a decade now.

Reset. Recharge. Get ready for Iowa. Go Horns. Let's close out these last three games hard.

Haven't watched much women's basketball but I have watched both OU games. I just cant see why the coach pulled Jones the last three minutes. She was playing well and the tall girl Stafford is to slow to stop a dribble drive. Seems to me that cost them the game. Like I said haven't seen much of the girls so take it with a grain of salt. I did enjoy and will watch more
