Texas KSU
Imani (6-7 Jr.C) Lewis (6-5 Soph. F)
Kelsey (6-5 Soph. C) Martin (6-0 Fr. G)
Brady (5-11 RS Jr. G) Wesemann (5-6 Soph. G)
Brooke (5-4 Fr. G) Texada (5-6 Sr. G)
Ariel (5-11 Fr. G) Woods (5-10 Sr. G)
KSU has some height to throw into the breach against Imani and Kelsey, starting with the 6-5 Lewis. None averages more than Jones’ 7.4 mpg and none is taller than 6-2. Texas will carry a significant height advantage into this game with KSU needing Lewis to stay out of foul trouble and on the floor. The Texas guards did a good job of getting the ball inside during the TCU and will need to repeat that performance. KSU had this to say earlier this season: “Our great zone defense is really our identity and what will help us keep games within reach.” Horns will need to attack it by both penetration and passing to get looks for the posts. They will need to make some midrange jumpers as well as get to the FT line.

KSU ranks last in the league in scoring, scoring margin, FG% and FT%. Horns will have a significant advantage on the boards. A strong defensive effort by Texas will put a lot of pressure on KSU to speed their preferred slow down game. A potential problem for Texas is that KSU ranks second only to TCU in steals. TCU forced 25 TOs, including 19 steals. KSU is likely to be salivating at the thought of pressuring Texas and getting easy points. Texas will need to put that game away and focus on taking better care of the ball. KSU will have trouble keeping the Texas posts from scoring. Lewis is more active than TCU’s Bradshaw and might be more likely to end up in foul trouble trying to deal with both Imani and Kelsey. The Horns’ ability to get the FT line will be key for them.
