Texas:ASU as Nolan Ryan:Robin Ventura

Couldn't help but remember a young Robin Ventura charging the mound and getting pummeled by Nolan. Explains some of Venturas ignorant comments, Nolans fists of fury caused some brain damage.

What was funny about this is I was wondering if the ASU pitcher was getting leg sores from all the humping the announcers was doing for the first 6 innings. Then they showed the booth and one of them was Robin Ventura. Then it all made sense. Nolan has made it where Robin hates everything Texas.

Would have loved to have been at that game. Imagine the audacity of a 26 year old kid charging one of the greatest legends of baseball. What a tool. Karmas a *****, he got exactly what he deserved.

Both Ventura and Hershiser have turned out to be bad commentators on college baseball. To like and appreciate the game is not enough.

Im not even sure if Ventura was that good of a MLB player, but i (along with almost anybody who follows baseball) will ALWAYS remember him for getting his arse kicked by the Ryan Express.

If you do a image google search with just "robin ventura". almost a third of the pics are of Ryan pummelling him.

I think the hatred goes back to college and that Oklahoma State and UT did not like each other at all. It was an intense rivalry with mutual hatred on both sides. UT also beat Oklahoma State in the College World Series when Robin was there.

Good pick up. That explains a lot. I just fininished watching the youtube video. I still remember it. Nolan Ryan was awesome in many ways.

Yes, seven straight. They had a graphic the other night, because UNC was joining the list at four straight. Ventura said he played on the last two teams, '86 and '87.

Didn't Ventura have the longest hitting streak at some point in college ball, I think around 63? I also remember for some reason that the knob of his bat breaking off on a foul ball? Why I remember **** like this and not what anyone told me 5 minutes ago is graduate thesis worthy.
