Texans sign Q. Gray: Rosenfels for a 2nd rd. pick?

Minnesota was definitely interested in Rosenfels earlier this offseason. If Rick Smith can pull off a trade for Rosenfels for a 2nd rd. pick that would be huge. Quinn Gray was pretty good last year and has nice mobility. Rosenfels is a gamer but this team needs a 2nd rd. pick more than him.

Interesting, I hadn't really considered that this signing might allow them to trade Sage. I had heard the earlier interest by Minnesota, maybe even Green Bay. If he does get traded I bet it's for a 3rd plus a low round pick, not a 2nd. 2nds are just too valuable.

IMO you pick a qb, (or any player), in the second round you hope can be a starter. You trade for a back-up with a higher round pick. Sage for a two would be great for Houston, but ain'ta gonna happen.

I'd jump all over a 2 . . . or a 3 and a 4 for him. Shaub may be a bit brittle so it's important to have a capable backup, but we certainly don't need 2 guys holding a clip-board.

Sage is too valuable to be sitting on the bench. The Texans have too many other holes that need filling right now. The Texans had to give up TWO second round picks ('07 & '08) to land Shaub. Rosenfelds should be worth something close. I think they'll end up getting more than just a 2nd. When the right offer comes, I wish Sage only the best where ever he lands.

I think I heard on the radio that the Texans have been offered a 3rd rounder for Sage. However, this is a moot point because Kubiac already stated he wants 3 qbs on the roster. Last season he was put in a scary situation when Shaub got hurt, he has expressed that he doesn't want to be in that situation again. I think we keep all three.

I agree, I wouldn't trade Sage for less than a high 2 or multiple picks. He proved he could run an NFL team and getting potentially a starting QB for a 2 is a steal.

It seems we are beefing up the secondary with the news today...

Ferguson and Andre Dyson. Depth in that area will be a non-issue, especially when Dunta returns from the knee injury.
Texans have 3 qbs, another running back, and are addressing secondary with free agency. This makes me think that they go Left Tackle with the 18th pick, which sits well with me.

The Texans have been trying to get that 2nd rounder, but no one will take it. And they've been trying since before they signed Gray. Sage for a that pick everyone says we should get isn't going to happen.

Problem is that there's very likely not going to be a LT available at #18 who's worth that high of a pick. Long and Clady will definitely be gone by that point, and I think the chances Williams will be there are very good.

One possibility is Branden Albert of Virginia; he played most of his career at guard and is the top-rated prospect at that position, but he filled in at LT for the 'Hoos this year due to injury in 2-3 games and apparently performed very well there. He might be worth considering if the Texans project him as a potential LT in the NFL; if worse comes to worse, he can just move back to his original position, where he's expected to be very good. If they could find a trading partner to drop back 6-8 slots (which would probably net you a 3rd rounder), he'd very likely still be available, but that obviously depends on finding a team who's dying for a player that's there at #18...

Not gonna happen with the Vikes because they just signed Gus Frerotte.

I think a 2nd Rounder is a bit much to ask for Sage Rosenfels. Yes he was able to come in due to injury to Matt Shaub and do a decent job, but does he really have the ability to be a 16-game starter and produce? I doubt it.
