...of our Rangers after our ballgame friday "This is the best team we've seen in years" on MLB network. I couldn't believe what i heard, just the nite before he predicted a NY win in game 6 and said the Yanks would be tough to beat in 7.

WTF?

Now all the guys on that network are picking Texas.....going on about our lineup, the lefty's at our disposal, etc.....But the comment that got me was Reynolds', and the fact no one questioned him.

Since when is Harold Reynolds "mine"? I've gone through periods of liking and disliking him, but I've never considered him "mine".

But your point is interesting. One night we are chopped liver; the next night we are pate'.

the giants don't have their pitching lined up as well as the Rangers, I'm guessing?

Lincecum pitched last night in relief, and their closer pitched 5 outs.

The series doesn't start until Wednesday. For the Rangers, I'm hoping the rotation goes Lee, Lewis, Wilson, Hunter. With a rain delay maybe we can leave Hunter out. Holland has been pitching better than Hunter of late, but can you have too many hard-throwing lefties in a rotation. Holland is the only left hander in the bullpen pitching well enough at this point to be anything but a situational reliever.

TA,

I was just recalling Reynolds' and your meeting long ago (in a post). FWIW, he's my favorite baseball analyst. I dunno about the other stuff that got him th eboot from espn, but he knows the game and makes every topic he's on interesting. He and Mccarver are tops, for me.

I second that on Harold Reynolds. He sees the game within the game as well as anybody and he clearly loves baseball. And sexy interns, but I can overlook that.

Personally i think this will be a great series w/ SF playing so many close games w/ their pitching....Imagine Zito coming in relief if a starter gets in trouble. Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez, Baumgartner starting, Zito, Casilla, Romo to set up, and Wilson to close....Gonna be hard to push some runs in

Can't wait

I think I've read that Zito is off the post season roster. When he and Harden were battery mates in Oakland, they were awesome. Outside Oakland, they are like Popeye without spinanch.

Good lord, you've got a memory on you! HR was very nice when we met him at Omaha, and he took a picture with us.

When he first went to ESPN, I didn't care too much for him, but I grew to because of his immense knowledge base about the game. I think he was a fall guy at ESPN and probably was a victim himself. I do enjoy his commentary when I remember to watch the MLB channel (I tend to forget it's there, although I couldn't live without MLB AtBat on my phone).

Anyway, how do the Rangers match up against Lincecum? I admit I haven't watched him pitch much, but I know about the dollar.

Crockett- Ya, you're right, I haven't seen Zito for awhile. Just know he is/ was on the roster and they had 4 guys that were going better as starters.

Romo and Casilla have been tough as set up men. W/ Zito outof the series then we need to get their starters out by the 6th- like we did w/ ny

TA,

Lincecum was one of 3 reasons i sprung for the $200 for mlb xtra innings (to see all mlb games on directv). The other 2 are Drew Stubbs and to watch the other al west teams.

I think we can get to him, but he was the best the NL had for the last two yrs (Halliday is better imo)....but you can get to him sometimes... It's the other matchups that pose a problem. Cain and Sanchez are very tough.

The ball flies out to RF in that park, and the dim's of RF might allow Vald to play out there....not sure we can afford to sit Vlad when he's hot like this

Can we run on Posey and their pitchers? We'll need to, that staff doesn't give away many runs. That's one of our strengths imo, we can play bashball vs pitchers that are missing, and play a NL style of game when we need to Mfg runs

Giants have best pitching in baseball with a 3.36 era. Teams are tied in homers at 162. Rangers have a better hitting team but Giants have the pitching.

Dont know much about Posey but the Rangers are going to run on everybody. They dont give a **** and that makes them dangerous.

Should be a helluva series.

could/should go 7 games imo.

We win games 1 and 5 with Cliff, one more with whoever, then game 7 is anybody's game.

Other than Ross, it doesn't look like they've hit much this postseason.

Vlad is coming on strong now, so I'm glad he's batting in game 2, shouldn't need him in game 1.

will be very interesting to see how many pitches cliff will need in game 1.

Regarding Texanne's comment above, I would encourage any bb fan to watch the MLB Netork. Great analysis, lots of games and lots of good historical stuff during the off-season. They run circles around the NFL Network.

watching a coupla segments of MLB TV today....

They said what we've all heard, Wash doesn't want to start Cliff any sooner than the 5th day....so it appears he'll be starting gms 1,5. But I bet if we're 0-3 somehow he starts gm4.

Also, they featured a LHP for the Jints named Lopez...to be honest, in all the games i've seen them play this yr i don't recall him pitching more than 3 or 4 gms in set up relief. Plesac and HR said he's the key for SF.

O-dog Hudson said he's guessing the Dutch Oven goes in gm 4, not Big Game....hmm.

HR said Guerrero s/b in RF in SF. (dim's are 309 dwn the line w/ a 24 ft high wall, LC is 420, deepest part of park).

Last nite these guys were saying they couldn't recall better pitching matchups for games 1 AND 2 of any WS....of course, we know who their employer is....

It all comes down to pitching and defense....Hughes made mistakes, we pounced. If we keep pitching lites out, we win

Speaking of MLB and Harold...who was the black guy on the 6-7:00 show? He was funny and loved the Rangers!

Hook'em!!!

H69, that was probably Orlando Husdon (twins 2b), sounded like shannon sharpe...talked too fast, but he did love him some rangers!

I was watching MLB Network yesterday and enjoying it immensely. Then I had to leave the house just as they were starting a segment about Bengie Molina and knowing SF's signs and tendencies. I couldn't record it because I didn't know when the segment would end. MLB could really help by putting times to their programming so we could set a DVR.

That's about my only complaint about the MLB Network. Great information and insight!

I still have this feeling the world is going to implode because the freaking Texas Rangers are in the World Series. I figured being in the stands for Nolan's 7th no-hitter would be the pinnacle of my Rangers fandom, I was wrong.

I am not really superstitious except when it comes to my teams, my wife makes fun of me, but I am trying hard not to listen to the hype or watch MLB.tv etc in fear of upsetting the mojo the Rangers have going right now. I refused to change the channel during game 6 against the Yankees for fear of somehow messing it up. I am going to be a wreck during the WS.

One thing not mentioned a lot is that Giants have a below average defense, in my opinion and given the pressure the Rangers put on you will count for a number of runs over the course of the series.

ck the stats Giants fld defis better than Ranger as is ERA....batting ave is lower but that is a wahh due to eseries DH rule.....I cked last night and in reg season stats the Giants had edge 8-5 stats.....in post season the edge was tied 6-6.....but those stas are really meaningless due to no common standard to measure each team...
