Terry Bowden: Dont count out the Horns

i agree with him that there is a chance. this year is a little more intriguing to me than the last couple. there are uncertainties, but there is the potential for an upside surprise. it's been a few years since one could say that it is entirely possible to see texas win 8 games or 11 or 12.

On a side note...I can understand everyone else not pumping us for the MNC this year. But, I don't understand how people think we are going to be significantly worse off than last year. Yes, we lost a couple of playmakers on offense. But, IMO we also lost the worst of our problems on defense in our linebackers and defensive coordinator. Offense is rarely our problem. If our defense is at all improved, it will make a huge difference. I can't imagine planning on being worse than we were in 2007.
 
Bowden's paying attention. Texas won't be as good at the start of the season as toward the end. Here's hoping they improve a lot before October rolls around.
 
This article definitely makes as much sense to me as the ones that say we'll struggle to win 10 games. The truth is every team has unknowns and some of our unknowns may turn out to be pleasant surprises!

We have less unknowns entering this year as we did in 06. We had just lost our heart and soul leadership, and were starting a reshirt frosh QB. We had lost 3 of 4 starters on the D line, starters on O line, Thomas, Selvin, Romance. Yet that team came together and until Colt gets hurt was having a damn good year. Also remember OU lost just as many games as we did last year and excpet for a couple of fumbles we are right in that one. We basically struggled on O because Colt did not get good protection, rushed and made some poor plays. On D we just sucked all year. The O line will be better, Colt will be better, and the D can't be worse. I think we'll be much improved over the 2007 team. Now we could still lose 3 games with this schedule, but we will be an improved football team.
