Terrific Book!

I just purchased and finished reading a great book - Freddie Steinmark - Faith, Family, Football, co-authored by Bower Yousse and Thomas J. Cryan, University of Texas Press, 2015. Very well written and edited - tells the story of Freddie's life (too short though it was). All Longhorn fans should read this book - a very good insight into Freddie and his impact on the Longhorns. I stumbled into this book on Amazon, but I'd bet there are plenty of places where you can find it. It cost me $18 in hardcover - and it's a bargain.
Read this book!

Freddie was/is a treasure. I still get a lump in my throat thinking about him at the Cotton Bowl on crutches. Couldn't keep the guy away. One thing I always hate about stadium expansion was doing away with the Freddie S scoreboard in the North end zone. He should always have a place of remembrance in DKR/Memorial.

Freddie's scoreboard is and always has been in the South end zone. It still is. Ask Deloss, he will never forget our conversation about it when I drove to Austin for a face to face sit down.

The base of the jumbotron has a photo of Freddie and a plaque honoring him. It has been a tradition that the players touch one of those with their horns on the way out to the field.

Ooops...my bad. Getting old plays tricks on the neurons. Glad it's still there.
