Why can't we make ANYTHING under the basket?! We are the worst team when it comes to making tip-ins and short putbacks. It kills me watching us take 2 or 3 shots from right under the fracking basket and come away with nothing.
the idea is to create space. we have no space down under so we end up wiht a tough shot underneath the basket. the space is outside. penetrate and kick it out!
This is the one area (free throws are ALWAYS a problem) that would have completely reversed the outcome of this game, imho. Put the mother in the hole.
The refs normally don't call offensive fouls when a player is standing under the goal and our bigs obviously lack "touch". Take it strong and flush it.
This has seemed like a chronic problem for almost as long as Rick Barnes has been coaching this team. I have no idea why, but I don't know a team worse than Texas at finishing around the basket. Seems like it's an issue every year. We get around the basket and everyone's tossing and tipping the ball around like it's a hand grenade with the pin removed. Aggravating.
Agreed....saw Jordan miss two back to back 2 ft shots (one a lay up) and then the next trip down hit a 3 pt shot....those seem to be easier for this team
I understand that some close-in shots and layups are not gimmes due to the presence of opposing players, but we missed several open / uncontested layups as well. I don't understand that, especially when it's from a guy in position to make an easy dunk.
