They have 21 recruits for 2010 and have moved up to number 5 on Rivals and NOT ONE RECRUIT IS FROM TENNESSEE!

On a side note, does anybody remember the story of those to super blue chips from Dallas that committed to Tennessee in the late 80's , that were arrested for robbing a jewelry store. I think one of their names was Evans.

The Linebacker in question was Jesse Armistead, but he signed with Miami and did not join his Dallas Carter teammate Evans in the Hot Tub for the TN press conference. Armistead did not take part in the robbery, but another Carter WR did, and I think that one signed with Cougar High, if my memory is correct. Thanks kbrown, too many years ago for my memory I guess.

We'll see how many of Kiffin's early commits stay on board now that the '09 ship is already taking on water (home upset loss to UCLA on Saturday) and is about to take a massive torpedo to the stern

from Tebow and the Gators this weekend.

The Cougar High player was Gary Edwards and he was a running back. He Derric Evans and 3 other Carter Cowboys who signed with D1 schools were sentenced to from 13 -25 years for armed robbery.

Gary Edwards was also the kid who didn't pass Algebra 2 but was still allowed to play on the team that beat Permian in Friday Night Lights.

Jessie Armstead's college choice came down to two schools: Miami and Baylor. He made his announcement at a Dallas hotel, timed to happen during the 6 o'clock newscast. I know this because I was a sportscaster in Waco, and had my weekend guy attend the event.

Derric Evans was the Carter kid who signed his LOI with Tennessee in a hot tub. He and Gary Edwards went on to wear prison stripes rather than football unis.

"if the Vols don't recover soon from their [pending] 0-2 start." _____________ The word [pending] implies that the reference is to the soon to be 0-2 start in sec.

Wow. Some interview transcript. He's really holding back, though. Somebody needs to do a book deal with him or something.
On the other hand, I'd hate to see him profit from his poor decisions and thuggery.

stay classy Derric....
Notice how he doesn't mention anything about the ineligible player on the team and grade fixing on that team.

or

about the horrible call that allowed Carter to score the go ahead points against permian.

love the language too
