Tennessee Practiced Today

Gotta love Summitt. She means business. How many other coaches in college basketball would do that? Sort of explains why she has 8 titles and most other coaches have zero or just 1.

Yeah, I agree, but I sure am glad Tennessee lost yesterday

I liked her comments about WHY they were practicing...in addition to the usual "we have to get better" sort of comments, she also added (about the loss in the first round and to a lesser extent, the play all season) "THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE."

Sounds much like thoughts about another program we all know...

Now that their season is over, what limits are there on when and how long they can practice?

i don't know the exact rule, but from what i've read, teams are allowed 8 hours of practice per week. but that is mainly conditioning/weight lifting. only 2 hours are to be spent working on fundamentals with the coaching staff.

And I think only 3 or 4 players can practice together with the coaching staff - not sure about that, but that's the way it is before the practice season starts in October.

I heard on the ESPN report that they can practice until the end of the school year. I was very surprised!! I wonder if they know what they were talking about.

I read on another board that Texas is also practicing - maybe everyone is - who knows!!!

Thought this was an interesting statement in the article...Summitt said that she has taken phone calls from coaches at Texas, Georgia and Duke and assumed that these schools are at least considering a similar approach.
I guess that means we are either already practicing or are going to practice. Who knows.

I hope we are doing more than considering it. A few intense practices at this point would certainly send a good message.

As I mentioned above

I read somewhere - but can't remember where - that Texas IS practicing. I can't VERIFY that, but I did read it.
