Tenn lands top 2011 PG

And Tennessee is still in the running for the top rated center in the 2011 class. They could possibly sign the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ranked players for 2011.

Very true. Summitt sucks as a coach and her 8 national titles are proof of that. But I guess that I would rather have the titles to brag about than a handful of regular season wins.

Interesting that you would take the 32 and 36 ranked combo over the 3rd and 4th ranked combo.

Excuse me for butting in, but what decade has Tennessee gone without a title, because they won a title during the time they lost to Texas four straight times. Tennessee's last titles were in 07, and 08, like two years ago, so I'm a little confused by your comment regarding recruiting and it's relationship to winning a title. Pat got two titles out of the last big class before the current one and sent four to the WNBA. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.

Tennessee won the NCAA championship during the 1997-98 season and then not again until 2007. The Horns string of four wins in a row vs. the Vols came 2001-2004.

True and neither team won a title but what were the results for both during that time. Based on season ending results between 98 and 07 which was the better team?

We all recognize that having the top rated recruiting class does not guarantee a championship as there are many factors that go into that. However, it sure makes it a lot easier than not having top recruits.

But it is more than "Tennessee had these top recruits so therefor they should have more titles" etc, etc. There were other factors such as injuries and transfers to key personnel that kept Tennessee from being able to compete for a title during SOME of those years. Now don't get me wrong, although Tennessee is my team, I also root for Texas when they are not playing the Vols, but things happen and sometimes the most talented team on paper doesn't always win.

And we also know that being ranked as a top player doesn't make it true. Some players are over-ranked and some are under-ranked. My favorite college examples are Sophia Young and Adam Morrison. There are so many dynamics involved in how well a player will develop once in the college ranks, such as injuries, team chemistry, coaching styles and concepts, work ethic, etc.

And anyone of any intelligence knew that the comment about Summitt sucking as a coach knew that it was said with sarcasm, especially since I followed it up with mention of 8 national titles.

I really hope to see Reed playing a bigger role this year. I just don't see the offensive skill from Gayle and we need someone who can get us some points in the paint. I think that with her offensive skill set that the job is hers to earn if she has put in the effort over the summer.
