I didn't get to watch the first round game of the Haith=sters.

Apparently a transfer guard went off for 38 or something with 'round 30 of those in the second half?

Apparently a very guard oriented squad?

Who do they have for forwards, or in the middle? Are they sr laden? Is Texas DOOMED?

I was trying to come up with a rough equivalent -- very rough -- and I think Miami resembles Baylor... strong guard play that doesn't shoot quite as many threes, and has a better inside game.

McClinton, the leading scorer, who went off for 38 against St. Mary's, actually shoots about the same inside the arc as outside, somewhat like AJ did last year.

He's also not consistent.... he shot 12-for-19 on Friday and 17-for-51 in the four games before that. He's never had two high-scoring games back to back, and when he doesn't play well, they have a much harder time scoring. I expect to see Justin Mason tagging him all day.

But if they get it together again, Texas could have a hard time, like Stanford did, or UCLA did.

I have a friend who is a Virginia Tech grad and ACC fan who has seen a lot of both Texas and Miami this year. He says there is no question that Texas is the better team, but he thinks what Miami will do is pound it inside early to try to get people in foul trouble. He says they rotate in three pretty good big men. He also said they have pretty good outside shooters and that McClinton has been a second half player all year. He kind of lulls you to sleep in the first half and then explodes in the second. He doesn't like Miami defensively though. Doesn't think they can keep up with Texas.

He said that if Texas is hitting shots at their average clip and can avoid foul trouble with Atchley and James, the Horns should get a relatively easy victory today.
