Television Repair Places?

We had one repaired about 6 years ago at a place on West Lynn. I can't remember the name of it, but it's within a few blocks of Jeffries. If you go down 6th to WL and take a right, it will be on your left a few blocks up the road.

I live about a half block from there. It is on the corner of West Lynn and 11th street, but I cannot remember the name. I can check on my way home from work and post it this evening.

I just Googled it real fast:

Bond's Television & Electronics Inc
1010 West Lynn Street, Austin, TX 78703
(512) 476-3551

I believe there is still a repair shop on South Congress, just past Magnolia Cafe.

Be prepared to bust open your wallet. It's rare to get someone to even look at a TV for less than $100 these days. As long as it's just something like a cold solder joint, you might get away with repairing it at that price, but if you need any parts, most shops gouge like used car salesmen on crack. At that point most people chuck it and buy a new TV. It sucks, but nowadays TVs are pretty much considered "commodity" items with a limited lifespan. I remember mom & dad getting 20+ years out of a Curtis Mathes with not one single repair.

If you can stand to wait a little bit.

Mr. Wizard's Electronics
1507 West North Loop
454-1137

He's basically a one man shop, you call ahead and get an appointment, usually a month later, take it in and he usually has it fixed within the week. The charge for the estimate is deducted from the bill, but you do have to pay for it up front.

He used to be at Guadalupe and MLK in the alley next to Radio Shack.
