Technical foul counts as personal foul?

Singler(Duke) gets his tech. foul, Patrick claims this counts as a personal foul, that's his third, then he gets another PF. Fourth? correct, but then a few minutes Dickie V comes back and says Singler only has three. Who is correct?
 
yeah, that's what I thought, but Dickie V. contradicting the info. threw me. Spingler was playing great until he got that fourth foul.
