The tea party has a basic principle of spending within your means which I agree with. unfortunately, you cant achieve that goal by shutting down the government and refusing to compromise..You are saving the very thing you hope to defeat.. Bad Logic.

Bad logic is giving in when your opponent wants to bend you over the bed and do dirty things to you. The Dems want sequestration cuts reinstated as part of the clean bill. Why the **** is that part of this now? I hope they stand against all of this and give nothing else. No negotiations unless even more cuts are demanded.

If the Republican Party is destroyed so be it. Another conservative group will rise up in its place. This out of control government needs to be stopped so even if this fails at least there was effort!

Jim Jordan (Rep-O) said today on Morning In American that the House Repubs put together a bill which extended the debt and reopened the gov. until 15 Jan. (when sequestor cuts come due again). The only "'gotcha" in the bill was the Vitter Amendment, which requires Obama and Congress to use Obamacare. He said Reid and Obama said "don't bother. We won't accept it".

Supposedly their are 14 bills on Reid's desk that fund almost every part of the government, but Reid won't bring them to the floor. I think it's the Dems. that don't want a resolution because they think the neg. publicity that the Main Stream Media is heaping on the Repubs. will help the Dems. in '14.

Harry Reid frankly is more to blame for a lot of this than anyone. Everyone talks about the partisan tea party, and Harry manages to skate by unnoticed because he simply refuses to allow discussion on those issues. He doesn't have to be seen as an obstructionist, because no one ever finds out about all the stuff he refuses to allow into discussion.

I think the trouble with the OP is that many people think this way. It is like a bartender who says he is against drunk driving, but serves a guy enough drinks to be drunk when he knows he is driving. If your not willing to say no more, the drunk driving will continue.

the dems control the senate and the white house, the gop the house.

the gop has a decent chance of winning the senate in 2014 or at least they did until the lost the most recent game of chicken. they need to convince the middle that they can govern effectively to win the senate. they played into obama's hands by pulling this stupid stunt and their leadership let themselves be cowed by a bunch of militants. not smart.

they can still take over next year and reform obamacare and cut budgets, etc. the budget in particular is going to be susceptible to their reforms because whatever a united gop senate and house passes is a fait accompli.

Patience is not a virtue among petulant children and crazed ideologues but it is what is required of the gop if it is to return to governing power
