TCU @ Texas

Tuned in late. Hit the free throws and we win.

I don’t care how ugly it is. Just get the W.

:ut:

Wow, won with a horrible shooting night.
1 of 14 (7.%) 3pt

We won it at the ft line (24 of 29) vs (8 of11)
We won TO (8 vs 17)
We won rebound ( 30 vs 28)

Tremendous 2nd half defense. We had more points after 40 minutes than TCU did. That's really all that matters. We finished strong. Won going away.
Congrats Horns. Good win over a team that will be in the NCAA tourney.

Went to ESPN app and saw we were down by 5, I think. Knew better than to tune to watch. Glad they pulled it out! Is this their first comeback win of the season?

On the other hand, overall shooting percentage was about 45%. Not great but not bad.
1-14 3-point shooting is not often a winning number. But as you pointed out in your post above, the Horns won almost all the other stat lines.
Smothering defense, Pressure free throws and tough in the paint offense served the Horns well.

I watched that entire game and I am still confused how we came back and won that game. This one also falls under the "a win is a win" column to me but we seem to have too many of them.

agree that 45% FG is OK, however, TCU smoked us on just shooting from the field.

these are our FG, 3pt, and FT percentages:
Texas shot 45%, 7%, 82.8%

TCU shot 53%, 50%, 72.7%

So TCU won big on shooting from the field but we shot better from the FT line plus we had 18 more FT attempts!

This was just a gutsy win and I definitely would NOT classify as a bad or ugly win. This team has character and grit.

We'll get crushed Saturday if we play like we did yesterday.

Bench had 1 basket.

Carr/Jones combine for 0-7 from beyond the arc.

TCU's D basically laughed whenever Cunningham had an open look... daring him to take it (and obviously miss).

That was a ROUGH game and we wouldn't have been in it if we didn't keep going to the FT line and forcing bad passes midway through the 2nd half. TCU sure doesn't look like a bubble team based on that half, but a 20-win season is a 20-win season.

Just looking for a NCAA tourney win. These games are preparing the team well. As 4 or 5 seed, you are higher or same seeded basically in first 2 games.

There are a lot of different ways to win a game. This team is not the most talented, athletic, tallest, or strongest in the B12. By a long shot.
So it finds various ways to win. A win is a win is a win. IMO. :idk:

Uh, that's exactly what I said. Literally word for word. They played like crap most of the game at home against a very inferior TCU team but I'm happy they won.
Yes, I agreed with that part of your post. Where I have a different take is that I think the Horns played well half the game (won going away by 9 points).
The horns swept the frogs; it’s obvious that they’re superior this year. Tcu is not chopped liver. They have wins over ranked teams.

Yep. OU is the closest thing to chopped liver and onions in the league this year. And they’re no pushover.
