TCU 3rd Baseman

Talk a lot of **** to Keyes it would appear. Besides, its baseball, heckling is one of the best parts of the experience, even when you're the one being heckled.

It looked like he was yelling at the pitcher, but I didn't see the pitcher do anything other than hang his head. (disclaimer: limited to ESPN's coverage)

Keyes said in the postgame that Carpenter said something to him, but he said he was not going to repeat any of it.

Carpenter is a prima donna. The only good thing about him is that schlosnanagle said he has a coaching spot waiting for him after the year ends so there may be more opportunites for heckling in the future.

Keyes admired his homerun and flipped his bat as well. I think Carpenter was encouraging him not to do it again.

I can't blame Carpenter. That's baseball.

That's what I saw from my seat.

Keyes hit a laser beam about 400 feet. He can wipe his *** with his bat until the ball stops rolling at that point for all i care. That is the pitcher's job to take care of it, not the third baseman.

Also, there are certain things that should never be said, no matter the circumstance. TCU isn't a bastion of diversity, Keyes is black, think about it. But we'll never know.

Yeah, let's keep this topic between the lines. Keyes held a pose for a second or 2 (I got no problem with that) and Carpenter is the Senior leader of that team. I got no problem with either side of that.

Having second thoughts about starting this thread. I didn't do it to rail in the kid, just curious what I missed at the game.

Keyes pimped that HR, plain and simple.

As a Longhorn fan, I don't like to see one of our players disrespect the game like that, and I don't mind that a TCU player like Carpenter got in Keyes' ear about it.

Edit: It isn't a defense, IMO, that Carpenter allegedly showed his *** in the previous game. If our athletes or we as fans start mimicking the jackassery we encounter from opponents, then we'll all become Sooners or Aggies.

Evidently Carpenter told the Texas infield about his home runs In Game 2 as he ran the bases. It didn't sit well with the team. Kevin Keyes wasn't the only one, Travis Tucker kept up a stream of verbal comments each time Carpenter got close to first base. I don't know what Carpenter said in Game 2 of the Series as he ran the bases but evidently it made an impression on our guys.

In his post-game comments Keyes said he started tonight's conversation, giving a little back to Carpenter for the trash talking he had done after both his home runs. He also said he couldn't say on camera what Carpenter said in response. Augie chimed in that he thought it had something to do with Jackie Robinson day.

The fans saw Carpenter jawing, likely not knowing Keyes started it tonight, so they let him have it each time he came up the rest of the game.

Carpenter got everything he deserved, it's baseball.

Keyes and Texas get the last laugh, I trust Carpenter will enjoy watching the College World Series from the comfort of his own home.

Hook 'em!

played against Matt 3 years in HS and the guy backed up his noise. As previously stated the guy has incredible talent but is a very 'energetic' player. Also was on a team with Vern for a couple years before HS and he is all class. Came down to the better team winning.

Both are guilty of violating one of the Ten Commandments of the Road to Omaha: Act like you've been there before.

Traditional baseball response for that is a pitch in the ribs

Keyes is a bit of a showboat, and he admitted in the postgame that what he did last night was something he'd "probably never do again."

But Carpenter was pulling the same crap all weekend, and I have no problem with our players returning the favor. I think there are more discreet ways to go about it that do not involve making an *** of yourself on national TV, but, as others have said, a response was required. That is baseball. You don't let someone come to your field and talk **** like that.

You need to have a certain amount of cockiness to play the game. I'm glad the guys defended the Disch.

During the press conference Keyes said that Carpenter had been talking trash everytime he hit a home run so he was just returning the favor.

Since I was not close enough to hear what either man said I cannot comment.
