Taylor Teagarden was named to the Olympic Team!!

His first at bat would have been a homer if not for Yourdany Ramirez. Ramirez is awesome at CF but unfortunately not so at bat.
By the way, Teagarden went to the Futures game, so not sure if he will be back for the rest of the series or not.
The Express are in second place behind Redhawks.
Came all the way up from last place. Brian Gordon who went to RR High is pitching for Redhawks tonight.

BTW - Teagarden is on the USA Roster for the All-Star Futures game today. He's not starting though.

Edit - sorry, didn't see the mention in Bell's post.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded in the offseason. There is a critical shortage of solid catchers in the majors, and with Max, Salty, and TT, the Rangers seem to have more catching prospects than the rest of the AL combined.

I wonder if the Rangers could get Clay Buchholz away from Boston for TT? Varitek is finished, the Red Sox no top prospects at C, and they have a ton of great young arms to offer.

I wonder who has more trade value -- Teagarden or Saltalamacchia? Salty will be a good major league hitter, but I'm not sure of him behind the plate. Ramirez really looks at home as a catcher and I see him more likely to be an all star back there. Maybe there's hope for a package deal for a solid second starter or a reliever with closing potential. The Rangers have plenty of mediocre pitchers -- no use trading for another one of those.

I think one of the other catchers will get traded. The Rangers are being super careful with Taylor to make sure he is completly healthy. I think he is considered the future behind the plate for the Rangers.

Don't forget about Gerald Laird. He's not exactly over the hill, and he was really hitting well, in addition to handling the staff and throwing out baserunners.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the Rangers trade one of the top catchers this off-season - they are very well-stocked at catcher, and lots of teams need one. Salty is a perplexing situation - he is very highly thought of, but his performance behind the plate has been so-so for the Rangers. Do the Rangers dangle him as trade bait???

I'll say it again....if the best TT can hit at AAA is .240 he will never be a legit ML player

I don't care how good he is behind the plate you have to hit better than that

Lastly, Salty & Max are improving their D, their both younger and have much more potential at the plate as well. Also if you want D, Laird is your guy

I think it is safe to say that Eugene is not the former Longhorn we all know and love - the one who pitched for UT and then finished his college career at TCU? The one who must be in his late 20s now?
