Hoopgurlz #23 prospect, Taylor Greenfield has Texas in her final 3 and has an official visit set.

I guess Coach G and staff aren't quite done with 2011 just yet!!

That's great news! We haven't really had anyone with her height who can play on the perimeter in a really long time. Here's an April article on Greenfield:

And a recent article from the Stanford point of view:

The Link

That is totally awesome news!

Although Kat plays inside a lot by necessity, she does have the skills to play outside, same as Greenfield.

I have to admit that I don't think Kat played the point in HS but my understanding is that she is more comfortable playing on the perimeter rather than inside although she has shown she can play inside.

As disappointed as I was that Pedersen committed to Stanford instead of Texas, I was really happy to have Kat come here as I thought she brought a lot of the same skills that Pedersen had. Sounds like Greenfield is a very similar type of player to both of them.

I saw Babhorn's note on another thread about Taylor visiting on UCLA weekend; that's great news and agree she would be a replacement for Kat. She fits perfectly with those already on board for 2011, and seems the type of individual and player that would thrive under Coach G...glad to know we're in the running.

Is there something more recent than April showing TX still in the running? The link shows UCLA, Iowa State and Stanford . . . how many visits are recruits allowed?

Too bad, would have loved to see Taylor in burnt orange, but best of luck to her with the Cardinal. I don't know if she even visited Austin since she wasn't scheduled until UCLA weekend; if not, very smart of Stanford to seal-the-deal, or push her to sign prior to her visit here. That's a strategy employed by a lot of programs as the process becomes much more difficult once recruits make it to Austin; not very easy to convince them to go elsewhere once they've seen the city and school, and met the full staff in person (as evidenced by the six who've committed during the last three months alone)!

Wouldn't be surprised to them get that NC this year. I was really hoping that Greenfield would visit Austin before making her decision. But once they are accepted at Stanford, it's hard to get them away.

Best wishes to her at Stanford. That's the third player that in recent years I was hoping would sign with Texas that has gone with Stanford--Kristen Newlin, Kayla Pedersen, and now Taylor Greenfield.

I feel sorry for K.Newlin she dont get any playing time and she was a All- America coming out of high school.
