Sure its not a "real" game, but so what. I'm excited about seeing what Shaka's bunch looks like against folks they don't see every day at practice. :hookem2:

Looking forward to it as well to see what they look like. Tarleton will start the season ranked second nationally among Division II teams so not a total pushover. :bevo:

Lots of good energy by Texas, playing hard D. Taylor is forcing it right now, seems he is mad at the guy guarding him. Shaka takes him out.

Lammert and Cleare are not suited up, Cleare had a root canal today.

Free throw shooting is looking better, Ridley's touch is looking much better. Then there is Ibeh, not so good still it seems.

Tarleton is no joke and does have some athletes. It's a good opening test.

Texas can go really deep in their bench and not lose too much talent wise. This team has some real possibilities if they keep getting better during the season.

As I said in another post, this team reminds me of the team Texas had the year after Durant left, but this team sure seems to be a heck of a lot deeper. The Big XII will be tough this year. They will need to have that signature win against one of the big guns of the conference to prove they belong in the conversation of Big XII contender. Jan 12 will be a great place to start. They owe ISU big time.

I agree, and think that they will get better, much better. Three of their top players are true freshmen, and as the season progresses they will get better, chemistry will improve with the older guys, and team play will congeal.
Defense is creating offense, and not only do the new guys know how to slice to the basket, they can shoot the threes.

Gonna be a fun season.

Effective, no question about that, but I have to confess that the style isn't really my cup of tea, any more than it was with Smart at VCU. I am more of a Bo Ryan type of guy, and find that style much more watch-able.

Having said that, nothing last night really changed my opinion that Smart has a very good chance to immediately (this year) make us a Top 25 team, and a team that will likely be capable of doing damage in the tournament pretty much immediately. Still might find myself longingly watching Wisconsin some, though, lol.

Taylor is going to play himself out of the starting lineup if he keeps jacking up lazy shots while the freshmen excel.
