Tapestry

My 14 year old daughter came home today and told me that she wanted me to listen to a song she heard and liked very much. She told me to close my eyes and listen to the words. She played Carole King's Tapestry, the title song. I am sure I will lose my man card for saying this, but I love this album and think it is one of the best albums released during the 1970s, which had some great albums.

Anyway, she asked me what the lyrics meant. Even though I have heard this song hundreds of times, I could not really tell her what a lot of it means.

Any thoughts? Only clean comments, please, as I will probably show her the thread.

It may just be an allegorical story about her life (and faith maybe?)... Lyrics

I'm pretty sure it's about her writing partner/husband, Gerry Goffin and their break-up.
