Clearly the program was slipping after it failed to win its third consecutive national championship.

Hopefully the new direction will enable the Gamecocks to right the ship.

What would qualify a baseball coach to be an athletics department director these days?
Seems like a curious promotion. You need a business guy in this big money era, not some well-liked coach. They could easily be lessening the personnel quality of both jobs, but maybe it will work out.

Skip Bertman was AD at LSU. Tanner was also AD at a smaller school earlier in his career.

Besides SC lost their AD to aggie so how awesome of a job could it be?

Without knowing his background, it is hard to say if he is qualified or not, Wasn't Dodds a track coach before he became AD?
