Tamarindo, Costa Rica - Honeymoon?

I'm getting married next April, and trying to plan the honeymoon. The future Mrs. horn n LA and I have both wanted to go to Costa Rica for a while, so we think it might be a good honeymoon.

Primarily looking at the Guanacaste region. Would prefer to be near a town, so we would have dining options outside of the hotel. Some resorts down there i've read can be beautiful, but kind of isolated so i'm a little hesitant about those. We've found a few hotels we like in Tamarindo, but i've read in old HF posts and on the web how the town is growing rapidly and very touristy...lost a lot of its old charm.

Would you recommend going to Tamarindo or is there another town or area you would recommend?

Tamarindo has it's good and bad sides... all depends on what you're looking for. I posted an entry on my blog a while back on Tamarindo.

If you do stay there, two places I would recommend at the Tamarindo Diria or the Hotel El Jardin Del Eden. The 2nd will probably be more in line with a honeymoon destination. Los Altos de Eros is supposed to be amazing, too.

Thanks hookem. Helpful stuff on the links. Appreciate it.

If yall are looking to get away, check out Nosara, it's further south on the Pacific Coast, but way more secluded. Good food, beautiful beaches, cool expats. To me, Tamarindo is too touristy and has shades of Cancun now. We stayed here:Nosara Beachhouse

We stayed at the Paradisius Playa Conchal and had a great time. Its next to a small town and has alternate dining options but there are several good restraunts on the resort which are apart of the all-inclustive package. Also has a buffet which is good. You can rent a car for cheap and go anywhere you want or stay at the resort and have a good time.
The ATV canopy tour was one of the funnest things I ever did. Good snorkeling, boat rides, volcano yours, ect. There is really too much stuff to do and the All inclusive takes alot of stress away when trying to drink and eat. I highly recomend it. Link
