Tailgating - BYU game

My son's 9th birthday falls on the day of the BYU game. He would like to have his party as a tailgate for the game. Typically we just have a small tailgate in our foundation lot. But since it will be hot and there will be guests that don't go to the game (including my wife and 3 yr old), we have a friend that is willing to bring his camper so that they can stay cool and comfortable during the game. He is also bringing a large pit on a trailer. The question is, where do we set up. Is there any restriction to parking in meter spots further away from the stadium. I was think over near 15th and Lavaca. Can we just bring his camper and pit down Friday night and park in meter spaces? Any limitations to do so or things we should be aware of? How early do you think we would need to get there?

Thanks.

I thought there was a "starting gun" amazingly enough for when you can get those spots.

I'd personally recommend working out a swap with someone that has a Disch-Falk pass. There are trees and grass over there -- better for kids.

Assuming you can get a spot down there somewhere (most of those lots are sold before the season even starts), room to roam and parking for the others is going to be a problem. The Disch-Falk idea is a good one as far as space goes. Partygoers will need to park on the side streets behind the Disch and might have to walk a ways. Another option would be to try to get an LBJ pass (Navy blue) for that game for northeast of the stadium. Everyone can (pay to) park at medical arts square or St. Davids and walk only 1 block to the tailgate.
