Tailgate help

I've been trying to plan a tailgate for the Tech game, so far I've had no luck finding a foundation pass to buy for one of the tailgate lots. I've never put together my own tailgate anywhere except the pink or blue lots, which I no longer have access too. I'm just looking for any place I could have a low key set up. I believe there are some lots around that you can pay 10 bucks to park on, that might be a possibility? Thanks for any tips you may have.

PS. I know about the state lots that have big tailgate setups, I'm not really looking to get in there.

I went and did some looking around at lunch, and I found a lot on 16th and congress that looks like it might be a possibility. Does anyone know about this lot? I walked by it a couple weeks ago and it wasnt full. There's a lot of nice grass around there, but I dont know how much they would appreciate you setting up camp on it.

Shi++....I just wanna party & booze it up with my fellow horn fans, since I doubt I'm getting tickets for the tech game. Point me into the right direction!!!

I used to tailgate under the big tree in the grassy area you're referencing; the lot is indeed a pay facility.

The hard part is going to be getting there in time to secure a spot & the even more difficult thing is going to be the possibility that you're elbowing in on someone else's long established location.

For a kickoff @ 1900, that lot & most of the decent grassy spots are going to be gonesville by around 1400 @ the absolute latest & I'd suggest you shoot for 1200 @ least.

Me, if I had the kids @ a more manageable age, I'd be out there @ 0800 watching games all day & hanging out.

I plan to go early, with the rest of my group prob coming a little later. I always try to be aware of people's spots who have been there for a long time.

A few pointers if you haven't ever really done your own tailgate in anything that would be considered "of a certain size"...

Don't try to flag or rope off a large area & then only have 1 or 2 people 'holding' the spot when only 5 people total are going to show up.

& This is a hard one; if you DO get there early enough & get your stuff all set up & then 1 hour later someone else shows up & they apparently 'always use this spot', it's gonna be a hassle for you to pack up & move over or rearrange. In some cases, it's easier to invite them to join your rig than to move.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips, I use to tailgate in lot 80(pink lot) most games until the parking pass switch a couple years ago. Finding a non-foundation lot to tailgate it is a bit out of my "comfort zone" but it'll work out fine. I actually got a dish pass this year and traded it away because I didnt think anyone in my group wanted to tailgate, I was wrong....
