SXSW Movies

Has anyone else been watching movies at SXSW? What can you recommend? I have seen:

Ano Una- A movie told with individual pictures in English and Spanish. Interesting approach. It reminded me of something from Sesame Street

21- I read Bringing Down the House and this movie was a little disappointing

We are Wizards- A movie about Harry Potter fans. It was all over the place. It did have a guy from Austin that recorded audio to be played over the first Harry Potter movie and he was really funny.

American Teen- A really good documentary about 4 high school seniors in a small town in Indiana. It really captures high school drama.

Harold and Kumar-Pretty funny sequel. NPH steals the show.

Animated Shorts-Interesting

Run Fat Boy Run- Good

Forgetting Sarah Marshall-Great

I worked Forgetting Sarah Marshall and thought it was adequete. I really wish I'd been asked to work Run Fatboy Run as I love Simon Pegg. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it comes out. Worked 21, and aside from the whitewashing of the cast, I thought it was ok. I don't think the director did a very good job of "investing" you in the characters. Harold and Kumar I will probably see at a matinee. The rest I know nothing about.

I was extremely disappointed in 21 as well. Sometimes good books don't translate into good movies.

We are Wizards was okay. The subject matter was interesting (if you can say that) and it could have been a decent documentary, but it just didn't flow and it seemed like the director wasn't sure what to focus on. First it was about bands dedicated to Harry Potter and then it turned into something about fighting Warner Bros and then that weird ultra-Christian lady.

Run, Fatboy, Run and Forgetting Sarah Marshall were both very good and funny. I really liked both of these movies. Well worth the wait in line. Looking forward to seeing Young@Heart (if I can get in).

after reading bringing down the house, i was pretty positive that a good movie could not come out of it, and was pretty surprised when names were signing on.
