Watch the vid on the link. Someone with more time and skills than I have should do a split screen with Vince's HS video and this one. The kid is going to be compared to Vince. I hope he can cope with that. Also, pay attention to #8 on Whitewright.
He is fast enough, but to me is bigger at this stage than Vince and looks harder to bring down. He won't outrun as many on the next level but is more likely to break tackles than Vince did. He needs time to develop his passing but he has plenty of time for that.
In his video highlights, playing against 2A high school payers, Swoopes looks like a high school junior playing against junior high kids. In the natioanl championship game, Vince Young looked that way playing against USC. It will take a lot of physical and mental development for Swoopes to get to where Vince was. Let's remember as we welcome Swoopes to campus that it took two and a half seasons, including the redshirt year, for Vince to develop into a fantastic college quarterback. As Texas fans, we need to understand that true frosh and true sophomores and even redshirt sophomore quarterbacks (should we ever have one again) are still learning.
I've seen no evidence of such patience as we've evaluated the performances of David Ash, Case McCoy and Garrett Gilbert,
