Swimming Pool Basketball

I just put a pool in the backyard here at the smwhorn home. Anyone have pool basketball goals/set ups/systems that could recommend?

there are a million of them out there and I am just wondering if anyone has had either good or bad luck with one of these.

Thanks.

We had a floating one that was pretty fun. It can get somewhat violent though. There is a former NFL lineman who use to play at my house. I think I am still spitting out water. Good times.

I thought about a floating one but I think I want one that is on the pool's edge. If anyone has one and either likes or dislikes it, lemme know.

thanks.

I've got a regular, driveway goal setup next to my pool. Glass backboard, the whole works... We love it

I can suggest two things.

1. Get the regulation size rim.
2. get the soft, more cushy, ball. the full size ones they make for the pool are too heavy sometimes when you are trying to make long distance shots, especially if you can't touch. also, they are slippery and don't work well against most "pool" backboards.

The floating sets suck because the low basket level makes it too easy to defend unless you want to have a full time ref calling goal tending on every shot. You end up with a bunch of people just trying to jump over each other for slam dunks. That can be fun for a while, but the novelty wears off. You're better off with the basket out of the water.

Don't forget about water polo. My friends and I have had countless hours of fun playing water polo using two picnic table benches as goals. Much more fun than basketball in my opinion.
