Sweeping a Big XII opp on their field

The sweep of Nebraska got me thinking...

How many times has Texas swept a conference opponent on their field?

How many times has Texas been swept at home by a conference opponent?

These are the ones I remember most recently:

2005 - Swept by Baylor, we swept OU in Austin
2007 - We swept @ OSU
2008 - OSU swept us in Austin, we swept A&M
2009 - Swept @ KU, swept in Lincoln

wouldn't it be more productive for someone to actually open the media guide and do the research than random recollections?

Baylor is also a split series, so that doesn't count, either.

For quite a few of Augie's years here, we went 5-1 combined against the Oklahoma schools so there was at least one sweep per year. Were any of the sweeps (other than 2007 as mentioned by BH) on the road?

The ones I remember best are from 2002. We went 2-4 against BU and Tech to open conference. Omar was on suspension and first played, IIRC, in the final game of the Tech series. Anti-Augie sentiment was at its peak with all but a few hard core believers (eg., marley, some friend of his (whose handle eludes my fingertips at the moment), bc2bagger, et. al.), ready to run him out of town on a rail. We began the run to five championships with a sweep at Columbia. We also swept KSU in Manhattan later that year, although some, um, "health issues" experienced by at least two prominent stars on that team nearly cost us the 2nd game of the series.

EHS, yes it would, but what's the fun in just posting facts? Hard facts tend to shut down discussion, which is usually not what discussion board operators want!

s102r18,

I think there were a number of fans who had not yet given up on Augie late in 2002. But there were some very vocal ones on this board who were ready to send him out to join John Mackovic in Palm Springs -- especially one prominent poster here.

Having watched Augie beat up on USC and other quality programs in the 70's out there, and knowing that a guy doesn't win 3 national championships at a commuter school like Fullerton without being one of the best in his business, I just thought Augie would deliver. And, of course, he did. After all, the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

It was fun being in Omaha behind 3rd base for the final out of that 2002 CWS. I got some great photos of the post-game activities. And I remember Ryan Hubele and Huston Street down on the field after the final out. What smiles they had on their faces.

I seem to remember that an occasional poster here, CJHorn, was also a loyal Augie fan as well during those difficult years. I remember that he never gave up either.

I remember carrying on those "Fire Augie" threads after the 2002 NC. Of course that was tongue-in-cheek. But it felt kinda good to nudge those guys who wanted to run Augie off in the early years of his time at Texas.

"What happened to BU in Omaha in '05?"

Think we SWEPT the CWS that year. SWEPT it in '02 also if I'm not mistaken.

Yep, I remember those Califonia Hippie ain't the right fit here in Texas and needs to Go -- game has passed him by threads. Needless to say, watching the final out behind the 3rd base dugout in Omaha was extra sweet that season.
