Javier Aguirre is the new DT, he was the coach when we beat then 2-0 in Korea. (Was that his last game as Mexico DT??? I don't remember.)
It was. He went on to La Liga after that. He got Osasuna into the Champions League, and did the same with Atletico before maradona got him fired.
I have always liked Aguirre because he was the kind of player who started his career as forward, then moved back to midfield, d-midfield, defender, and finished as a sweeper, kinda like Lothar Matthaus. He knows the game very well.
Mexico reaps what they sow. Their lack of patience and extreme arrogance always holds them back. But they make a ton of money so they don't see the need to change anything. It keeps them floundering in mediocrity. Aguirre won't change the culture, but he is demanding complete control of the national team from top to bottom. It'll be interesting to see if the suits give in to his demands.

^^^^^^ Why? They are overrated little whiners. I absolutely hate their fans. They think they are gods gift to soccer in North America despite being dominated now for 10 years. Plus it makes me really mad when they boo during our national anthem. enjoy the turmoil while it lasts.
I have some family that are their fans and many friends. They have good and bad fans. While many tend to be douches, not all are. We are pretty new to this big time soccer thing and have not yet quite arrived. When we do and more fans pile on we will have ample time to show how doucney we can be as well. Just go to some sporting events here to see what could come.
We have zero sports in our country with the passion that they or other countries have for their team and the sport.

Maybe that can transcend into some fans who are on the fence with their douchery. There will always be jackasses but the common Mexican fan can have a party at my house any day to watch soccer.

The US needs Mexico to be better because it makes their confederation better and it makes the US record better. Considering that Mexico is the only decent team that the US has beat since Portugal in 2002 and they haven't gotten past the group stage in any tournament held outside of their region since that same world cup, it don't look so good. And when Mexico looks as bad as it does, then it looks worse.

I think 1899 meant the *USA* hadn't got out of their group anywhere, not Mexico.
